Eliana’s POV
Murder Of My Mother
“Miss Eliana?” I hear that voice that causes irritation to my ears most of the times.
I shut my eyes in frustration.
“Gregory Vance. The company is releasing a new production by the end of this week, can you at least leave me alone for the time being?” My hands continue shuffling through the documents, skimming over the pages again and again just to be sure.
“I wish I could let this one slide ma’am. But it is essential. We can’t seem to track the car the company sent to pick up Miss Roseline. It’s almost like the trackers were forcefully removed. We also got intel from our spies that the CEO of Thorn Estates left his company. The time perfectly aligns.”
My hands suddenly stop shuffling the documents. Slowly, I lift my eyes up to see the reports in Gregory’s hands.
“Is this a joke?”
My face goes rigid.
“Here.” He slowly levels the document on my table. I see just enough to realize this is not a prank.
“Son of a b***h. Send more cars immediately.”
I rush out of the building, my heart plummeting fast to my stomach.
Dane Thorn, CEO of Thorn Estates is not just my enemy and my company rival. That thing is a thorn in the flesh of my family.
To be fair, our families have always hated each other. Well, that was before his reckless brother of an animal impregnated my sister, Sandra and she died. Father couldn’t handle it. So he sent Dane’s brother to the land of the netherworld. And since then, both our families have constantly been at odd.
I step on the pedal hoping to make it just in time to save Roseline Voss, my mother.
“s**t!” The traffic is jammed. My heart keeps drumming faster by every second. The last thing I want to do is to arrive late.
I do not like the thought of this but I know I can stop it from escalating into what it should be. If only I intercept Dante before he does anything stupid.
“Gregory, what’s the intel?” I quickly ask.
“He seems to be heading towards a fuel station. I suspect that is where Miss Roseline is now, ma’am.”
I shut my eyes and I drive past the traffic. I can’t lose my mother simply because of some stupid green and red light.
I park the car frantically and I rush out.
“Miss Eliana Voss?”
“God damn it! What do you people want?!”
“Your mother. She was just recently discovered in the back seat. Bullet blew her brains out. Do you happen to have any information on why Miss Roseline Voss would want to commit suicide?” A police officer walks up to me.
“Wh-, what, what are you rambling about?” My whole body is shaking.
Mother has always taught me never to wallow in self pity and especially not on the streets. But this, this isn’t something I can stomach.
“Your mother, Miss Roseline Voss committed suicide at the early hours of the morning at exactly 9:45am if I’m to be straight with you. Do you have any idea why she will want to-“
“Boom!” Flames flare up.
My body stays rooted to the ground. Slowly, I lift my eyes.
“Voss Vineyards.” My voice breaks into a whisper at the end.
“Mother.”
“Miss Eliana, we’ll advise that you stay right here while we-“
“Mother!” I do not let the rest of their words sink in before I dash off to the car engulfed in flames.
“Miss Eliana! Get an ambulance. Hurry!”
For some reason, every word she says after this doesn’t make sense.
I see her mouth moving and how her facial expression changes, my ears however. It’s as if they are shut, open only to mother’s words.
The police officers manage to lay their filthy strong hands on me. I turn to scream when I see him, Dane Thorn. Rushing away from the scene. I try as hard as I can to point to him, to scream. My voice falters and I end up squabbling.
“Where is she?” I hear Gregory’s voice. The last thing I want to do right now is to serve as an object of pitiful evidence.
“Eliana, you’re alive.” He tries to mask it but I see it clearly, the surprise.
“Am I supposed to be dead? Did you have a hand in this Gregory?”
“I wouldn’t dare to do such a thing ma’am. The police, they informed me that you were close to the car when it exploded. How are yo-“
“My Mother.” I cut him off before he finishes.
“They managed to retrieve her wounded body to the hospital.”
“She was already out before it happened. My mother’s body should be in the morgue.”
“The police are trying to carry out an investigation to ascertain the backstory behind this…gruesome murder.”
“I want to get one last look at her. Immediately after I leave, they are sending her body to the morgue. They can’t do a single thing to her murderer.”
“Who is her murderer Miss? The police should be able to do something about it.”
“First, his brother kills my twin sister and now he kills my mother. I will get my revenge.”
“I need you to speak clearly ma’am.”
“Dane Thorn Silas.”
The silence that follows immediately after is really not surprising. Of course, none of them will be willing to bring him to justice.
“Miss Roseline is at the Bay Hospital.”
“Get me black roses. Meet me at the Bay Hospital afterwards.” I can’t think of any better way to have my own space than this.
I drive into the hospital and I keep checking room after room searching for mother or rather my late mother’s body.
“You seem to be looking for someone.”
“Roseline Voss.”
“Room 271.”
“Hmm.”
I take the flight of stairs. The last thing I want to do right now is stay with humans.
I see a human figure step out of mother’s room. I don’t need an angel to tell me who it is. Just from his shoulders, I know him.
“Dane Thorn Silas. How interesting. Why are you here?”
“You’re alive?”
