Chapter 2
The next morning, both Kerry and I got up late than usual. Obviously we were really hung-over. After feeling a little bit better, we decided to go for a walk to the nearest café to have a brunch.
We took a seat and then ordered our food. I stared at Kerry.
“What?” She said.
“Don’t you remember anything last night?” I asked.
“I was about to ask you the same thing..when did you learn to drive huh?” She asked me curiously.
“I didn’t.”
“What do you mean?”
“I didn’t drive your car Kerry.”
She was puzzled.
“If it wasn’t you, then who?”
“Gina.”
“Who’s Gina?”
“You don’t remember her? Your new bestie..” I said with a small laugh.
“Wait a minute... ” She said – thinking.
“I remember her..I thought she was you at first..what took you so long anyway, last night?” She continued.
“Something happened, but it’s all okay now.” I said.
“I heard they said you were crying and got really drunk..mind if I ask what happened to you?” I asked.
“I saw Tom kissed a girl.” She said sadly.
“Tom? Your boyfriend?” I asked.
She nodded.
“And did you confront him??!! ” I asked louder.
“No.” She answered.
“Kerry why???!!!!!!”
“Hush please..” She said.
“Sorry.” I said.
As soon as we finished our meal, we walked slowly to our rented apartment. Suddenly on our way back home, Kerry’s hand was tugged by someone.
“My baby darling!” Tom said.
Kerry showed no reaction and no emotion as well. She pulled back from him.
“Tom, we need to talk.” She said.
Kerry gave me a signal to leave them alone, so I walked away. I went to the nearest garden and sat down on a bench. As I was scrolling down my phone, suddenly a curly brunette guy sat beside me. He was busy looking through his DSLR camera shot photos. He was wearing an employee id card.
“Daily Dose?” I said.
He suddenly looked at me and smiled.
“Oh did I say it out loud?”
“Yes you did.” He said.
I was blushing.
“I’m Patrick from Daily Dose Magazine..and you are..?”
“I’m Luna.”
“Luna? I think I’ve heard that name before…where…?”
He snapped his finger.
“Right! Miss Luna Apollo. Your name reminds me of our new appointed journalist."
"That's me."
"Huh?" He looked at me - puzzled.
"My name is Luna Apollo." I said.
Patrick looked surprised.
"What a coincidence." He said.
I smiled.
"Must be fate." He said again.
Patrick is the only Photographer at Daily Dose magazine. He gave me lots of tips as a beginner. After having a conversation for almost two hours, I decided to go home.
"See you on Monday." He said.
"Okay, see you soon." I said.
Monday came, so I went to the Daily Dose Magazine's office. Thank God there was one familiar face among strangers.
"Welcome Miss Luna Apollo, I am Mr. Andrew, the owner of Daily Dose magazine."
"Thank you Mr. Andrew."
"This our 1st journalist - Lisa.." He pointed at a skinny tall lady with long black hair.
"Felix - responsible for the layout design, website, graphic.. and anything related." A short guy, almost the same height with me.
Then he introduced me to John, the second journalist.
The last one is Patrick. We were just smiling to each other.
"Our third journalist, Ben, has been absent for three months. We couldn't reach him."
"Maybe he's sick?" I said.
"Then he should've let us know." John suddenly said.
"Ben's column in our magazine has been empty for months. Readers keep on asking for it, that's why we need you to start working as soon as possible." Mr. Andrew explained.
"May I know what kind of column is Ben writing for?" I asked.
"About myth.. mystical.. supernatural.. horror..paranormal..or anything of that kind." Mr. Andrew said.
Suddenly I was feeling super excited.
"Lisa, please guide Miss Luna.. and make sure to edit her writing before submitting."
"Yes boss." Lisa said.
So my first day at work, I spend the most of time reading through Ben's column. He was such a talented writer. I hope I can write as good as him.
