CONSIDERING ALL HELEN went through when she was shot, I’m thankful my own injury was not nearly as severe.
Mostly thankful.
I mean, who doesn’t like to be taken care of and pampered when they're not feeling well?
Unfortunately, after one day of convalescence, Anna was of the opinion that I was well enough to resume my normal duties, “Considering you have no one else to blame but yourself,” as she put it so delicately.
Helen and Dan busy themselves with trying to set the case against Clayton Rugger for the murder of Father Timothy Stratton. Since he hasn’t asked to see me, I haven’t been involved with the case. Besides, as Helen points out, I’m both a victim and a potential witness.
