I PULL INTO THE RECTORY driveway next to a work van with After & Before Cleaners emblazoned across the side. I sigh with relief, knowing that I can sleep in my own bed tonight and work in my own office today. When I first set foot in the Rectory, I’m hit with the refreshing smell of pine. I’m pleased to see the blood stains gone from the foyer and the short hallway. I hear the sound of a vacuum or rug cleaning machine coming from the guest room, so I decide to go and thank the cleaner for their good work. He’s on the floor, using a spot removing machine on one of the blood stains on the carpet.
