Frederic was silent for a moment and then asked, "Did you find out?"
Gritting his teeth in anger, Martin said, "Frederic, I thought you were my best friend. I told you about this first, even before my family knew. I trusted you. Why did you lie to me? You knew Joey was the one I was looking for. Why didn't you tell me?"
Martin was nearly roaring.
He had always believed Frederic was helping him find his sister.
But he never imagined that Frederic, whom he saw as a loyal friend, had been hiding the truth.
Frederic's voice remained as cold as ever.
"And if I had told you? Could you have controlled yourself and not recognized her as your sister? Do you realize how much pain it would cause her if she found out?"
"Would keeping it from me prevent harm? She almost got killed by Scarlett!"
