23 Meredith walked up the stairs carrying a mug of coffee and knocked nervously on Cady’s door. Her stomach was knotted in a tight twist of nerves; not only because of the bakery fire, but knowing she needed to speak to Cady about Julia’s revelations. George’s return from the bakery had given Meredith plenty to worry over; the damage to the bakery caused by what he suspected was a Molotov cocktail, and the fact that Cady had learned the truth about Mark’s ownership of the store. Meredith couldn’t predict how Cady would react and she’d decided to leave discussion of either matter until morning.
