CHAPTER FIVE

Kris instantly sat up, drenched in in sweat and a headache that was threatening to blow her head up. She whined and placed her hand on her head, it was heating up. The door opened "Hey, you need to lay down for now." West said walking in with a glass of water. Kris immediately went into full self defense mode. "What the f**k are you doing in my room, p*****t!" She screamed, pulling the blankets over herself before realizing she was dressed. West chuckled "Relax! First off, you are in my room, not your room." He said. Kris raised her eyebrows. She looked around the room and was unable to recognize it. Well, she couldn't tell the difference because she hadn't spent up to three minutes in her room yesterday evening. Yesterday evening? Now, the memory began to set in and her headached a lot. She looked down at her finger where a ring had sat for five seconds. It was painful. She couldn't get the memory out of her head. The memory of catching her man, naked on top of another naked girl. She wanted to scream but she held it all in. She pulled the blanket away and attempted to go down but West rushed over and stopped her. "Let me go this instant." Kris growled slowly. "Relax! Relax! You really aren't in the state to move right now." West said. "Move!" Kris said. She couldn't let it go just like that. Lou would've loved to help but there was no Lou in Europe. But, if anything, she was going to deal with Clay mercilessly. "Listen, listen! I know how you feel, I've been here before but you really can't act rashly." West tried again trying to calm her down. "Hey! Who the hell do you think you are? Let me out of here this instant!" Kris said before moaning in pain. She suddenly regretted drinking so much. West sighed. He led her to the bed and gave her a glass of water. "Do you want revenge? I want revenge too so that makes two of us. All you have to do is calm down and listen to me." West said . Kris doesn't calm down, the pain in her head made her sit still laying her head on the head board. She thought about all the wonderful memories she had with Clayton, from the moment they met till this moment. She thought about how excited she was to get on this ship cruise and how she really wanted clay to propose. Of course he has but was she really ready to spend the rest of her life constantly haunted by the nasty memory of Clay on another girl? Could she really forgive him? They say time heals wounds but would she ever heal when she wakes up everyday to see the same man who hurt her? No, she wouldn't and she would equally not heal if she doesn't get revenge. She closed her eyes as the tears came pouring down her cheeks, burning her. Her heart cracked with the memory fresh as day. "Get me a cup of coffee first." She said, It was time to work. “Aye, aye, Capitan.” West saluted, pulling a trolley from a corner of the room. Picking up a ceramic kettle and a mug of the same nature, he poured the contents of the former into the latter before handing it over to Kris. Kris, skeptical, gave the hanging mug a look before taking it. She said a silent prayer, hoping to God she wouldn't get poisoned, before taking a large gulp. She sighed contently. “Thank you” West sighed too and sat down. “I was hoping you'd be a sugar and milk person” Kris smiled. Clay had never taken her preferences into thought. He'd always assume she liked it black, like he did. “I'd prefer cream but this is very much okay too. Won't you have some?” He shook his head. “I've already had some. As early as I could. I didn't sleep well last night. The couch, it turns out, is only good for the bum” He chuckled. Kris gasped. “Oh my God! You left your bed for me? Why didn't you put me on the couch? I doubt my drunk mind would've noticed the difference anyway” She looked horrified, with her hand by her mouth and her eyes wide open. “I'm not that cruel. Besides, I was able to get a job done. Now, have breakfast if you want, and we can start. Or do whatever you want” He said breezily. Do whatever you want? Clay hated spontaneity and never really did what she wanted. Who was this man? Kris looked at the trolley in front of them. It was filled with platters of covered meals. Her stomach grumbled instantly. Only then did she realize she was dressed differently from last night. “Um, West?” She called. West raised an eyebrow. “Yeah?” “Did you change my clothes last night?” She was hoping he did. “Yes. You were drunk out of your mind. Unconscious even. That dress, although beautiful, was not free enough to let you sleep.” He shrugged. “You're joking” Her face was pale. “I'm not. How else did your dress switch to a shirt and pants?” West said, pulling out his phone. Kris was absolutely horrified. There was no way he saw the scars. But, he did. He didn't look like he cared though. If he asked, she'd say they were from the accident. That's what she'd say, easy. West laughed. “Of course I am. You should've seen your face. I had one of the female crew members do it. The clothes are mine by the way” Kris sighed and glared at him. “Don't do that. I almost had a heart attack” She swatted at his shoulder. “I'm sorry but—” West is cut off when the door to the room is opened with a bang. “You have got to be kidding me” Clay snarled as he stepped in, looking vicious.
