16 Dressed in my running clothes I stood in front of my living room window watching the rain as it slid down my roof and dripped though a hole in my drain pipe, rhythmically beating down on my front stoop. If you lived in western Washington you had to learn to ignore the rain and do your activities, or you had to give them up. Most of the rain was mist and drizzle that didn’t dampen outdoor projects. I ran in that kind of rain, but this rain was heavy. It was also hypnotic, sending me back to my night with Hanna. Excepting the ‘L’ word, everything seemed to align that way. Paradoxically, at the same time, Hanna mentioned moving away to LA. The distance wasn’t that great and didn’t rule out a reconciliation, but it did make one less likely.
