26 The weatherman had promised a rain free day on Saturday which brought Carrie and me to Volunteer Park, a 48-acre park in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. It was called “Volunteer Park” to honor the volunteers who served in the Spanish – American War. In addition to excellent running trails and beautiful landscaping, it was home to a conservatory and an Asian Museum. If we ran far enough, up the hills, we could reach the old water tower and climb inside to get a view of the city and its skyscrapers. There was a children’s wading pool and spraypark that I avoided on my route. Hanna and I used to live in the area and took Kevin there when he was small.
