51 With a few hours before my date with Diane, I decided to make a short run through the park to shake off the tension from the meeting with Detective Showers. Although it was productive and we managed to move him out of his complacency, I was still the chief suspect in a scheduled murder trial. I’d feel a lot better if the charges against me were dropped. We were in daylight savings time now which meant the park was brighter compared to the last time I made this run. Then, the tree shadows were lengthening like fingers of the night taking hold of the next several hours. This time there still were people in the park: a family packing up their picnic gear, boys on bikes, and lovers walking hand in hand. Breathing hard from pushing myself, I slowed to begin my cool down and returned home.
