Adrian leaned against the car window, watching the streetlights streak by as Marcus drove him to the airport. The weight of the situation sat heavy on his chest. Nadine’s face, filled with anger and betrayal, lingered in his mind.
“You sure about this?” Marcus asked, breaking the silence.
Adrian nodded, though his expression was grim.
“I don’t have much of a choice. Vanessa’s ultimatum is hanging over me, and I can’t keep pushing Nadine like this. I need to figure things out back in the States.” Marcus glanced at him, skeptical.
“And what happens when you get back? You think Nadine will just welcome you with open arms?” Adrian sighed.
“I don’t expect that. But I need to fix things on my end before I can even try to be part of Liam’s life. She deserves to know I’m serious about this.
