Katherine was looking at the scene in front of her. One of the omegas was kneeling on the floor, trying to pick up shattered glass, which probably was a bottle of wine. Her hands were shaking when she tried to grab tiny pieces of glass. Hovering over her was Camille, wearing a fancy dress entirely ruined by spilled wine. In other circumstances, Luna would feel great satisfaction seeing this, but now her blood was boiling as one of her pack members was mistreated. - Let me ask again. What the hell are you doing?- She asked, looking at Camille with hatred in her eyes. If this woman was stepping on her toes, Katherine was okay with that, but what she wouldn't tolerate was abusing her people. Camille offered a similar look before talking. - If you haven't noticed, your clumsy omega dropped the bottle and spilled wine all over my dress. It is ruined.- She said slowly. - This omega has a name.- Luna gritted her teeth. Then she turned her attention to the young girl who was still busy cleaning the floor. - Lizzie, you may go; I will take it from here. - She smiled at her, and the girl stood up, happy she could leave this place. Since Camille arrived, all the omegas felt stressed. It was clear to everyone that she had no respect for anyone below her. Most of her friends have already learned to stay out of her way. Lizzie was just unfortunate to meet her today. - You are sending her just like that? No punishment? - Camille asked with disappointment in her voice. - She should pay for what she did. - Did Lizzie do it purposely? Do you feel she intended to destroy your precious dress?- Katherine put as much sarcasm as she could into those questions. - Or maybe it was just an accident? Camille stood in front of her, silent, probably thinking about the proper reply. - Clumsy omegas shouldn't be allowed to work in the kitchen. For everyone's sake. - She said with a smirk on her lips. - Something like that would never happen in my pack. Katherine gave her a nasty look. This bi*ch was teasing her. But Luna was not going to let her win this time. - I think you had a wrong impression when we told you to feel at home here. It was said out of politeness. But I feel like you took it too literally. It is our pack and our rules. I would appreciate following them for the time of your stay here. - Katherine said what she had to say and was ready to leave. - You are right, Luna. My behavior was inappropriate as I am just a guest here. I will keep your advice in mind.- Camille said calmly, taking Katerine by surprise. She looked puzzled, wondering if what she had just heard was sincere. - What are you talking about?- Sean's voice came from behind. Katherine cursed under her breath. How did she not sense her mate coming? But Camille did. Now she had her answer. This viper made a show look like she had just been scolded. Well played, indeed. Sean entered the kitchen and instantly noticed the whole mess. - What happened to you? - He asked, making Katherine gasp as he turned his full attention to Camille. His wife was ready to slap him for such an insult. His mate was present, yet he chose to show his care to another woman first. In the past, such a thing would be unacceptable, but now everything has changed with lightspeed. Camille was ready to laugh at what was happening here right now. But this occasion was perfect, so she took the first chance. - It is not a big deal, Alpha. One of the omega's made a little mistake, and I overreacted. But we got it sorted with Luna Katherine. - Camille gave him an apologetic smile, smoothing her dress. This simple move made Alpha look at the massive stain and knit his eyebrows, seeing the damage. - I will make it up to you and talk to whoever did it to ensure such mistakes won't happen again. - He said in a stern voice. Katherine couldn't believe what she was hearing now, but Camille was beaming with pride. Soon she excused herself to change her clothes. Sean watched her leave the kitchen; then, he looked at his wife for the first time. - Could I talk to you for a minute in my office? - His voice was calm, but the anger in his eyes was evident. Katherine nodded her head and followed him. When the door closed behind her, she already knew what he would tell her, but she couldn't care less. - What is wrong with you?- Sean almost hissed at her when she took her usual couch spot. Katherine expected nothing more from her mate, so she took her time before giving him an answer. - Nothing is wrong with me, but something is wrong with you. - He said in an accusing tone. - What do you mean by that?- Her husband sat behind his desk, distancing himself from her. It was a good move, as Katherine was still ready to punch him. His disrespectful behavior towards her made her mad. - Since when has my husband, the Alpha, become a lap dog?- It was a low blow, but Katherine was fed up already. Her words had an impact on him as Sean's eyes turned black. - You might be my mate, but I warn you, mind your words.- A low growl escaped his lips. - Do you hear yourself?- Katherine stood up from the couch, strolling toward him.- You are threatening your mate because of another woman. What kind of man does that? - If you are trying to pull a pity card on me, it will not work. You are the Luna, and I expect you to act like one. Camille is our quest, and what were you doing? Scolding her like a child. - The child would behave better. - Katerine replied quickly, angering him even more. - They have different rules in their pack, and we should accept them. - Again, do you hear your own words? Will you seriously neglect your pack and our members to please her? You missed the part when she shouted at this poor girl, making her shake like a leaf. Do you want me to act like a Luna? I did. One of my duties is to protect my people, which I did. As an alpha and my mate, you should support me there. He looked at her for a while, and something changed in his eyes. Sean took a deep breath and hid his face in his hands. - I am sorry. - Katherine heard him saying. But those words meant nothing to her. He had apologized a lot in the past, but nothing changed. Ultimately, he still acted like a puppet in the puppeteer's hands. - There is no need to apologize. - Katherine came closer and put her hand on his arm. - I want to make the alliance work, even if it means bending some of our rules. But I promise, it will end soon. Then everything would go back to normal. - Sean came to her, wrapping his arms around her. - I am sure it will. - Katherine agreed with her husband to end this conversation. - All I am asking you is to think about your people first. Camille will leave this place sooner or later, but they will stay here. - The Luna forced herself to kiss his cheek gently. - By the way, when is she going back home? Sean's face changed almost immediately as the thought of Camille's return home made him uncomfortable. He took off his arms from Katherine's body and distanced himself. - I am not sure yet. There is still a lot to do before the final agreement. I think she will have to stay here for a few more days. - He said quickly as if his life depended on it. ~ He doesn't want her to leave. ~ Lucy pointed out as his behavior was suspicious. ~ Of course, he doesn't. ~ Katherine almost laughed at his miserable try to convince her that Camille's presence was necessary. For now, she decided to go with his game. - So let's say about a week? - She gave him some random amount of time to see his reaction. After receiving her agreement, Sean visibly relaxed. - Yes, honey!- He shouted too enthusiastically for her liking. - I think we should have everything sorted by then. Katherine again had to suppress her laugh at how comically her husband looked. It was just a matter of time for him to start fighting for Camille to stay longer. - Since there is nothing else to discuss, I will leave. - The Luna said, heading to the doors. - Of course, honey. - Her husband replied, absent-mind as his thoughts were already elsewhere. Thanks to her enchanted hearing, Camille knew every word in the office. She almost felt sorry for this poor Luna who thought she could get rid of her. That was hilarious. But this Lizzie... Camille could forgive her this time. Everyone has the right to make mistakes. It was just a dress. But she liked that dress. On the other hand, who needs clumsy weaklings? They were just a waste of space. This pack has many omegas. They are like a weed here. And Camille could not accept weed.
