Chapter 13
It's On
We pulled into a small restaurant that looked like a log cabin. There were metal signs covering the sides that said all sorts of rude things. The one that stood out most too me was one that said, 'Pay, Sweat, and Smile.'
The name of the place was Joe's BBQ, but some of the light bulbs had burnt out so the name was Oe BQ. I raised an eyebrow at Anthony, which made him chuckle.
"Don't worry, it's the best barbeque in town." I highly doubted that. There wasn't a single car in the parking lot. Hesitantly, I walked into the building, gasping in shock.
The inside was really nice! It looked brand new. There were round metal tables that had silver tops and old fashioned ice cream parlor chairs. The padding on the chairs was a deep red color, which matched the red and white tile.
There was a large wooden counter that stretched all the way across the back wall and above it hung the menu. It was one of those new menus that were electronic, so every few seconds the picture would change.
Behind the counter stood a middle-aged man. He had a large beer gut that hung out over his white apron which was tied around his waist. He wore a white muscle shirt, not the wisest choice on his part, and black sweat pants. He had a double chin which was covered by a five o'clock shadow and gray eyes which you could hardly see past his bushy gray eyebrows. His head was bald, covered by a little white hat. On his chest was pinned a name tag that said, you guessed it, Joe.
"Hey, Joe!" Anthoney called, waiving. The man smiled, lifting his head in acknowledgment. "He makes the outside look crappy so he doesn't have to work so hard." Anthony whispered in my ear as we walked to the counter.
I gave him a questioning look, about to ask why, when Joe butted in. "Hey Anthony, this your girlfriend?"
I could feel my cheeks growing red, "Were just friends." He answered, a little too quickly. Joe's eyes narrowed as he raised an eyebrow, but remained silent. "I'll have my usual, honey barbecued ribs please."
"Of course, and for you....?" I looked up and then down menu, trying to decide. Everything sounded so good, and I was really hungry.
As if my stomach agreed with my thoughts, it let out a loud rumble. Shocked I threw my hands over my stomach, my eyes widening.
"Ss..Sorry." I strutted, trying to hide my blushing face. God, that was embarrassing! "I'll have a turkey leg please."
"Sure," Joe chuckled, his eyes shining with amusement. "I'll have it right out." I nodded, turning to face Anthony.
He had a hand clasped over his mouth and the other wrapped around his stomach, doubled over in silent laughter. That didn't help my already flushed cheeks which were now the color of a tomato.
"Stop!" I exclaimed, slapping his shoulder. That only made him laugh harder, this time out loud. His deep, musical laughter echoed through the room, making me smile.
Did I just call his laugh musical? Wow, I really had it bad.
"You should've seen your face!" Anthony gasped, pointing at my face.
"Hump." I crossed my arms over my chest, shifting my weight so it was on one foot. As he continued to laugh I tapped my foot against the tile, creating a tap tap sound.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
Finally, he stood upright, his cheeks puffed out from holding his breath. Occasionally his chest would rise and fall. Oh great, he had hiccups.
"Finished?" I quipped, rolling my eyes. To say I was irritated would be an understatement.
"Yup," He chirped, popping the 'p,' "But you, Missy, need to have more fun." Before I could respond I was flying through the air, landing on Anthony's shoulder.
My mouth fell open as my eyes bugged out of my head. What was he doing?! I forced myself to ignore the wave of pain that rolled through my wrist, I would have to get used to it.
"Put me down!" I demanded, bringing my fist down on his back. Or at least I thought it was his back, but because of the way I was positioned my hand smacked him right on the butt.
"Hey!" He chuckled slightly, "Like what you see?" Yeah, I did!
"You wish," I said quickly, glad he couldn't see my face. It was the color of a tomato. Again.
"Humm...You know..? I don't think I appreciate that remark." He said, "Maybe I'll have to do something...."
"No!" I gasped. If he was going to punish me it could only end in disaster. "Don't! Just put me down!"
"Aww, but that wouldn't be any fun." Suddenly, we were moving, which sent my heart racing. I could only see his butt, legs, and feet which was not enough to know where we were going.
A few seconds later we stopped, but I could still only see his bottom half and the tile under his feet. I sighed in frustration, this was not one of my favorite moments.
His arm which was securing me shifted, loosening slightly. What was he doing? His arm continued to loosen until nothing was holding me. My heart leaped into my throat as I started falling towards the hard floor.
"Oops." Anthony gasped, placing a hand firmly on my butt. If I wasn't so flustered about the placement of his hand and out of breath from my almost fall I would've told him to put me down, or at least change the way he was holding me.
"Okay, I'll put you down now." He said, let me slide to the ground. That was it, no punishment? The second my feet touched the ground something fell on my head, making me gasp. It slipped off my hair, falling over my shoulders, down my shirt, and into my mouth.
It was salt.
"Anthony!" I screeched, "You..." And then I jumped at him, wrapping my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist. His eyes widened in surprise as he stumbled backwards. "Eap!" I let loose a squeak as we fell to the ground, hitting with a thud.
Anthony grunted on impact, making my heart jump. I hadn't meant to hurt him, only get back at him! My worries were gone in a second when he started laughing.
"What was the point in that?" He laughed. I rolled my eyes, sighing.
"Just for payback, I'm not going to move until you say you're sorry," I said confidently, moving my legs so I straddled him at the hips.
His eyes shone in amusement as he smirked at me, "And I'm not going to move my hands until you get up, so we'll see who asked longer."
That made no sense, his hands were on the ground. "Wha-" My mouth fell open as he placed both my hands on my ass, again.
I gaped at him, about to yell when I remembered his words. Oh, it was so on! I was going to last longer. The look on his face told me he was trying not to laugh, but I was trying not to scream.
My face was probably so red I looked like a bell pepper and my eyes were bugged out. If he could feel my heart racing, and he probably could because our chests were pressed together, he would think I was going to pass out.
I gritted my teeth as he moved his hands so that his fingers were on the inside of my thighs, making me shiver. If he knew how much I was actually enjoying it he would freak out.
"Umm..." My head snapped up to see Joe standing behind us, holding our food, "If I'm interrupting something I can come back later?"
I quickly pushed myself off of Anthony, trying to not get even redder. "Umm..." I stuttered. Suddenly the tile was very interesting to look at.
"Thanks," Anthony said, taking the plates from Joe. He smiled before turning around, walking to his place behind the counter.
Anthony set out food down at the nearest table, putting my plate in the chair closest to him. In front of me sat the largest turkey leg I had ever seen in my life.
"Let's eat," Anthony announced, rolling up his sleeves. "Oh, and Bree?" I lifted my head to look at him. "I so won."
