Storm
Storm got dressed after a long run. It's been a quiet day, which was good. There were rouges spotted on the north side of the property. Their low lives had the nerve to try and cross into our territory. It was quickly handled.
My patrol team is strong and handled it without a hitch. But within the last few weeks, there have been more of them trying to get access. There was an attack on our neighbors, the Strong Hawk pack, in the west region.
Many of their pack members were hurt even though they managed to kill more of the enemy. We are allies, and I visited the pack to show support. I helped Alpha Kaii strengthen their patrol and had them up their training. Alpha Kaii and his Luna Zahra were an excellent team. They did a lot for their members. I just made sure all members of the pack were in a training class at least twice a week. The women had to know how to protect themselves and their children. Now we were being tried, but the enemy would never be successful in any attack against us. We are strong and united.
I just got back yesterday from the trip. I went into my office and started to review the budget for our new cabins. A few families in our pack had grown, and we decided on getting four bigger cabins built that provided more space. The smaller cabins would be handed to smaller families, especially the newly mated members. I could sense Matthew at the door before he knocked. "Come in, my friend." He entered and sat down. "Did you get Sherri's note?"
"No," I answered immediately. Sherri was my assistant and handled most of the calls when I was away. If it wasn't urgent, she wouldn't reach me. Matt reached over and pulled a sticky note of my calendar. He handed it to me. I read it and frowned.
"Why? How did you know about this?"
"I saw Ashley earlier, and she asked if you were back." I blew out a breath. I threw the note away. Matt looked curious.
"No," I responded.
"Aren't you a bit interested? See what she wants. At least."
"No, I'm not. If Robbie wasn't so smitten with his human, I would have kicked her out. I don't have time for extra s**t. I looked into their background. Stella's dad was killed by his traitorous pack members. By a jealous Alpha I heard." Something I don't want to deal with. "What about the girl? Have you seen her around?"
"No, it's been months now. Ashley said she was sent away to school, and she was fine."
"You should see what the mom wants. You have been restless and grumpy ever since you met her. Maybe.."
"That's enough. You could go." Matthew stood.
"I liked her because she was funny and had a good energy." Matthew said on his way out.
We need to see how she is doing. I want to see her. Maddox begins to pace back and forth.
I want to see how she is also, but is she worth the risk?
She is definitely worth the risk. We will protect her. She is our mate.
You keep saying that, Maddox, but I'm not feeling one thing. There was a slight pull, but I feel nothing anymore. It only lasted a second.
But it was there. Maddox sat down. She is ours.
The next day, I set up a meeting with Ashley and Stella's parents. I sat at my desk waiting until Matthew escorted them in. Hannah and Eric walked in. I could feel their nervous energy. Eric held Hannah's hand, guiding her forward.
"Thanks for having us, Alpha." Eric said, and they both gave a slight bow.
"Please have a seat. What can I do for you? " I asked, sitting straight up in my office chair. Looking at them both.
"Alpha, we are going to get straight to the point. We were notified by my sister Kara that our daughter Stella will need training before and after the blue moon. Her wolf would be out soon, and she needs a pack to be with. Ashley loves it here and trusts you all dearly. We figured you would be our best and only option. " Hannah nervously said.
"You want me to take her in?" I sat back. I crossed my arms across my chest. "If you will, Alpha. We are only human and can not teach her what she needs to know." Eric said.
"Kara did her part, and she's mentioned how well Stella is doing." Hannah informed me.
"I don't know if I want that responsibility. She will be in human form for another month. She would be more work for us." I said, not wanting to give in. Maddox was growling, and I was ready for this meeting to be over.
"She has her wolf Alpha. She just hasn't transformed. We don't know how to handle that. My sister Kara says it's going to happen soon, and I don't trust many. You have allowed my youngest daughter around, so we were wondering if you would allow Stella also." Hannah rubbed her hands together nervously. Eric placed his hand on hers, and it seemed to calm her down.
"She has her wolf?" I asked, but I heard her before. Deep inside, I wanted to see what her wolf was like. Maddox purred at hearing this.
"Yes, she does. She is still resting, but Stella is able to communicate with her now." Eric said proudly. Strom sat up.
"I will contact you this evening with my decision. There's a lot to think about." Hannah nodded her head for ok.
"Thanks for meeting us." Eric said. They shaked my hand before Matthew showed them out.
I sat and smiled, remembering Stella. She was like a breath of fresh air the last time we met. I liked her sense of humor. How she handled Tyler. Everyone knows he can be a bit pestie sometimes. He was a flirt and laid it pretty thick. A lot of she wolves fell for it, though, but not Stella. Not to mention her curvy body. When she sat behind me on the atv that morning, I enjoyed every bit of it. Her soft body pressed against my back. I shifted in my chair, adjusting myself. Maddox was enjoying the memories also.
"That look. Could you be thinking of a certain woman?" I looked up to see Matthew standing in the door with a dumb smirk on his face.
"No, Matthew. I stood up and walked to the couch I had I at my office. I sat down and took the breath I needed. Matthew sat at my desk spinning in the office chair like a pup.
"So what's the move?"
I stretched my legs out in front of me. There was only one thing I could do. I had to keep Stella at a distance until I could figure out if I wanted her as a mate or not.
