The Stranger

187 Words
Her bloody white dress blew in the night breeze. The girl ran into the woods as a hooded stranger followed her. She hadn't been sure until a knife poked through his jacket. She had screamed for help, but no one dared to go out when the streets were empty, for they had a murderer right under their noses. The fog and dense forest should have been enough to distract the stranger, but it was not. The fresh tracks in the dirt made the subject's work easier. She kept running as the icy air blew through her dress. She glanced back. The stranger walked nonchalantly, so that he seemed confident that she would die there tonight. The toe of one of her high shoes snapped off and she fell flat on her face. The only thing she thought when she saw the stranger raising his knife over her was how stupid she had been for dressing like that that day. When he was sure that she was dead, the stranger dragged the girl to a hidden cabin in the woods. No one would ever hear from her again.
