This time when Kara woke up she could feel the cool wind rushing past her face and the sound of a helicopter pierced her ears. She did a quick mental check and found herself gagged, bound, and dangerously close to the open door of the helicopter, based on the wind she was feeling.
“Commander?” A voice rang through the headset that someone had kindly put on her.
‘How nice of them to be more worried about my ears, than if I’m going to fall right out of the cabin’ Kara thought to herself.
“I recommend you quit pretending, Miss. Meyers, I know you’re awake.” an unfamiliar male voice rang through the headset. The man reached over, untied Kara, and helped her to sit up. Kara immediately went on high alert, waiting for someone to push her out the door or knock her out again. Today just really wasn’t her day and her head was throbbing.
“Who are you?” Kara demanded. “Are you with Hawk?”
The stranger chuckled, “No Miss. Meyers I’m not with Hawk. I’m not naive enough to believe Jason’s lies about a uniform world.”
“I don’t think Jason even knows what his whole mission is. He just has a twisted mind and is very delusional,” Kara scoffed. She was beginning to us her power to touch the stranger’s mind. It was guarded, but he let her in and allowed her to see that he was telling her the truth.
“Your inquiry through my mind probably already gave you your answer, but my name is Colonel Christopher Gertan. Your father, Special Agent Johnathan Meyers, called me and told me about your mission. He asked that I come get you and escort you to General Whisp.” Colonel Gertan explained, there was an aurora of concern around him.
Kara knew who the concern was for, Johnathan, “Jason’s men took him. He told me to leave him and finish my mission. I hated leaving him behind, I mean he’s my father and I owe him everything, but…” Kara sighed, fighting back tears. She didn’t have time for tears, the mission came first.
“Miss. Meyers, you don’t need to feel guilty. You did the right thing. Your mission comes first,” Gertan moved to sit next to Kara. “You complete your mission and we can restore the timeline.”
“But we don’t know anything about time travel. We didn’t have any time to experiment and perform tests before I came back. This was literally our last shot at saving everyone.” Kara knew she shouldn’t be telling this man everything about her mission, but he had willingly opened his mind to her to show he wasn’t lying, and he was one of her father’s men. Kara sighed, she couldn’t do this without some help, with Jason stopping her at every corner Kara needed to find some allies. Perhaps Colonel Gertan, could prove to be that much needed ally.

“That’s impossible!” Johnathan exclaimed, “ Greg Michael is dead. He and his son died in a car accident fourteen years ago.”
Johnathan and the man circled each other, both trying to gain the upperhand, but neither able to find a weakness in the others defences. Besides, Johnathan wanted to keep the man talking and distracted for as long as possible, allowing Kara enough time to escape.
“Dad!” Kara called out as she finished dispatching her men. She was coming to help him.
“Kara don’t worry about me! I’ve got this man, you need to go!” Johnathan wanted her to be as far away from this nonsense as possible.
“No Kara! Don’t listen to your so called ‘father’, I want to see how you’ve grown.” Greg called out to Kara. This infuriated Johnathan and he took advantage of the fact that Greg was distracted by Kara, to launch an attack. Johnathan lunged for Greg, managing to knock him down.
“Leave my daughter along!” Johnathan knocked Greg out. He hurriedly got up to find Kara, she really didn’t need to see this imposter. There was already enough going on in her life and they needed to meet up with the General.
“Dad! Where are you?” Kara called out. She was also searching with her mind trying to find him.
Johnathan followed the sound of her voice, “I’m coming sweetheart.” he called back. “Just stay where you’re at, I’ll come to you.” He ran through the trees, following the general direction Kara’s voice had come from. They needed to meet up with Whisp and get Kara sent on her way.
“Dad!” Kara exclaimed as he broke through the trees into the clearing she was standing in. Johnathan wrapped Kara up in a hug, just wanting to hold his little girl; he just wanted to take a minute and hold what was left of his world for just a minute.
He sighed and took a step back, “We’d better go. General Whisp will be waiting for us.” Father and daughter turned and started working their way back towards the rebel camp.

“So Miss. Meyers, what’s the plan?” Colonel Gertan asked. He was looking to her, a young twenty year old kid who had just lost both her parents, for an answer, for a mission plan?
‘Why am I suddenly in charge of everything?’ Kara thought to herself, wanting to say it outloud, instead she just gave Gertan a direction to go. “Head for the Pentagon,” quick glance at her watch told her she had six hours left, “and step on it. We are about out of time and this is one mission I refuse to fail.”
Gertan chuckled, “Well Miss. Meyers, we can’t really afford to fail our mission. How much time do we have left?”
“Six hours.”
“In that case, Officer Douglas?” Colonel Gertan addressed the pilot
“Yes sir?”
“Where are we currently?”
“We are currently flying over the Great Lakes, sir.” Officer Douglas.
“That means we aren’t that far out from the Pentagon!” Kara felt a renewed sense of hope. There was still a chance of her completing her mission and saving her family!
Colonel Gertan looked at Kara, “We aren’t going to the Pentagon.”
The hope fizzled, “What? Why not?”
“Intel indicates that by now General Whisp is secured within a top secret base, that you need me to access.” Colonel Gertan’s sudden change of plans, made Kara wary. She had her orders from General Whisp, he said he was in the Pentagon when the attack went down, not hidden away in some secret base.
“Then your so called “intel” is incorrect,” Kara knew she needed to convince them that they needed to go to the Pentagon. “General Whisp told me exactly where I could find him before the attack went down and that is the Pentagon.”
“Kara, was Whisp expecting you to be there without and hiccups?”
That make Kara, stop and think. They didn’t know where she was going to end up spit out, they were just hoping it would give her enough time to warn Whisp. “I told you we didn’t know what was going to happen. Time travel just so happens to be something we discovered, just in time to give us one last ditch effort to save our world as we know it!”
Colonel Gertan could see Kara’s distress, “Kara, I need you to trust me. We only have six hours left to get the warning out. I have the resources and intel that you lack. I promise you, General Whisp is in the top secret base here in the middle of Lake Ontario,” he grabbed Kara’s hand and opened his mind to her once more. “You can trust me Kara Meyers.”
