1.3.1 The early morning sunlight fell like yellow rust over the rear parking lot of the CTC. Colton Pierce sat in the back seat of Selma’s black Corvette and waited not-so-patiently for her to return. They had easily driven into the parking lot—a quick swipe of Selma’s parking card had granted entrance. The gate opened. Selma drove her Corvette to a far corner of the parking lot and stopped beneath the cool shade of an elm tree. Colton had told her what to do and had given her explicit instructions about what to say in case anybody asked; but chances were nobody would.
