The cool night air filled Dana’s lungs, inflating her chest.
Crest Drive Park was a place she'd been to several times to read in. It was absolutely magnificent, the ambience provided by the several trees that served as a canopy from the sun; the beautiful, bright flower; the fact that it was so big and segmented guaranteed she could always get a place where she could be alone and forget herself in whatever book she was reading.
As she neared the brass gates, her eyes caught, a lean, muscular figure. She held herself from grinning too much. No need to freak him out.
It wasn't like he was the first person who'd invited her to come out in ages. No, not at all.
He noticed her coming and advanced towards her. Her grin broke out once she saw his.
His eyes were even more beautiful in the moon light. They captured the light—and Dana's attention.
The two stood staring at each other. Dana took the opportunity to observe him in close range. Straight white teeth, perfect, sharp nose and cheekbones coupled with the most striking eyes, he was a dream.
What did this boy want with someone like her?
"Let's sit?"
Dana nodded and began walking to one of the metal benches, with him following suite. She jolted at the coolness once her thighs made contact.
She ducked her head and looked away when Avi chuckled.
"So shy." He took his bottom lip between his teeth, his grin still on his face. After joining her on the bench, Dana felt less cold.
Dana managed to hold his gaze for a few seconds before looking away quickly. "How long have you been here?"
He stretched his arm over the back of the bench, his fingers brushing her bare shoulder. "Not too long. I had a feeling you'd like it here."
Dana smiled. "It's really nice. I come here to read sometimes."
"Oh, what do you like to read?"
Dana glanced at him. "I'll read pretty much anything. My favourite genre is Thriller though. It's so interesting... "
Avi raised her chin with his index finger so their eyes met. "Go on."
Dana felt her throat constrict. "Okay, uh... I like mystery. I hardly ever get the killer right but it's fun anyway. How, uh, how about you?" She added nervously.
He laughed shortly. "I don't read much fiction, more of non-fiction. Self improvement books and the like."
He sat up straight and began to run his fingers along the exposed part of her thigh. Dana's breath hitched but she must have been super quiet because he continued talking as if she hadn’t made a sound.
"So would you like to be a writer? Most people I've met who've had that to say want to write their own books."
She shook her head. "Oh no. My dad would kill me before he let that-"
He moved his hand up her thigh and let his warm palm rest there, his fingers just grazing the hem of her dress.
"Avi... " she whispered with her head hung low.
He put his arm around her waist and pulled her body close to his. "Dana... "
He tucked her hair behind her ear, leaning down till their lips were mere inches apart. Dana’s stomach began fluttering like crazy.
Like earlier, he smelt like cigarettes with the hints of his aqua perfume. His body heat warmed her body and she felt herself moving closer to him.
He placed a soft kiss on her lips and moved back, searching her eyes. "Did you like that?"
Was there a chance he really liked her?
She nodded. She liked the way his arms held her body and how he never took his eyes off her even though it filled her body with nerves. .
A grin broke out across his face and his lips were on hers again, soft yet firm. Dana's heart began to thump against her chest as their lips moved together.
She followed his lead, letting him have all the control. He tasted like strawberry gum. Her head was reeling when he pulled back, resting his forehead on hers.
Next thing Dana knew, his hands were on her breasts. She perked up instantly, her body inching closer to his.
She realised her mistake when he nestled his head in the crook of her neck and his hands began fondling her chest.
Like a deer caught in headlights, her eyes widened. This wasn't how things were supposed to go. But she hadn't even expected anything. He'd whistled and she'd simply come running.
Her heart was going wild in her chest but no longer due to excitement. No one was around here... what if he decided to take things further?
Oh God. Let someone call, text, anything that would let me leave.
Finally, he stopped and took his hands off her breasts, letting them rest on her waist. He stared into her eyes, the usually clear green, dark and turbid.
Dana gulped. "I think I should get going... My parents don't know I left the house."
His lips curled into a smirk. The glistening of his eyes coupled with their secluded, dark atmosphere, made her stomach drop.
She got up, putting space between him and herself. "So... I'll see you at school."
He was standing beside her in a matter of seconds. Raising his thick eyebrows at her, he asked, "let me walk you?"
She chuckled nervously. "Don't worry about it."
He laughed. "It's nothing."
His warm hand enveloped her tiny one. "You're really cold."
She threw him a quick smile, her legs already moving in the direction of her house.
He clutched her hand in his while they walked, stealing glances at her.
She felt relief wash over her once she saw, two houses down, the familiar white duplex that was her home. She pointed at it with her free hand. "That's me. Wouldn't want anyone to happen to see you."
He chuckled. "Of course. Tomorrow, come find me where we met outside."
She'd steer clear of there.
"Sure. See you." She gave him a close lipped smile.
He squeezed her hand briefly then let it go. "Bye."With a kiss on her cheek, he started down the street.
She watched him disappear down the street, with her eyebrows pulled together in a frown.
What exactly had she started with Avi?
