Mars-Polar Orbit

MARS—POLAR ORBITThe Mars polar-orbiting mirrors were another nanobot programming triumph for Sally and Brad. Each mylar mirror was just short of four kilometers square. Whereas the superconducting equatorial cable was manufactured by nanobots in the Phoenix facility and pushed into place through a portal, each mirror with its base and controlling infrastructure was actually constructed in orbit by nanobots. Four nanobot swarms brought raw materials through four portals spaced around the orbit path and grew four satellites at a time with their enormous shiny wings. Each satellite mirror took about an hour to construct, and once in place, each maintained position using some of the energy collected by the mirror. PS Neil Armstrong dropped into position over Mars’ north pole, and Thorpe dire
