CHAPTER TWO

523 Words
The sun rose brightly over the grand premises of De Bosco Groups of Companies, its name etched in silver across the sleek glass entrance. A luxurious black car pulled into the parking lot and came to a smooth stop. Bianca stepped out gracefully. Her tailored navy-blue suit hugged her figure with quiet confidence. Chin high, strides sure, she walked past the security men and employees, who greeted her with uncertain respect. The look in her eyes warned them not to ask questions. She climbed the stairs steadily, every step echoing her determination to take back what was hers. When she opened the door to her office, she stopped cold. A young woman, poised and professional, sat behind her desk flipping through files. She looked up slowly. Her face was unfamiliar, but her presence screamed authority. Bianca’s voice sliced through the room. “Excuse me, who are you, and what the hell are you doing in my office?” The woman stood, graceful and unshaken. She was in her mid-twenties, wore smart glasses, and carried herself with unsettling confidence. “You must be Bianca,” she said calmly. Bianca folded her arms. “Oh, so you even know who I am.” “Good morning, ma’am,” the lady said politely. Bianca wasn’t in the mood for pleasantries. “Keep your greetings to yourself and get out of my office. Now.” The woman remained still. “Didn’t you hear me?” Bianca snapped. “I see Mr. Daniel didn’t explain things to you,” she said, her tone polite but firm. “I was hired yesterday. I resumed today. I understand this used to be your office. But I’m the new General Manager of De Bosco Groups.” Bianca stared at her, as if waiting for her to laugh and say it was all a joke. “My office? My company? You’re joking, right?” she muttered. “With all due respect, ma’am,” the woman replied, “the only person who can remove me from this office is your husband — the CEO, Mr. Daniel.” Bianca’s eyes narrowed. “So you know he’s my husband? Interesting. You seem to know quite a lot about me. Who are you really? Did you both plan this?” “I don’t know what you’re implying. Perhaps you should ask him directly. If you’ll excuse me, I have work to do.” She sat back down, adjusting her glasses and returning to the files. Bianca’s fury ignited. She marched across the room and yanked the woman by the arm. “Get up from my chair!” “Don’t touch me,” the woman warned, pulling back. In a flash, Bianca slapped her across the face. The woman responded immediately — a loud, stinging slap that echoed through the office. Bianca recoiled, shocked. “I didn’t want to do that,” the woman said, clearly shaken but unbroken. “But you left me no choice. I won’t let you humiliate me on my first day. If you have a problem with my being here, go meet your damn husband.” Their eyes locked in silent battle.
