“Nope!”
Summer answered instantly, the words tumbling out before she could even think.
Alexander’s eyes narrowed slightly at her quick denial.
Just moments ago, he’d been simmering with anger, but now that temper dissipated like steam from a cooling kettle.
She stepped closer, her voice soft and sweet. “Big Brother…”
The man didn’t move, simply allowing her to approach in silence.
She wrapped her arms around his firm waist, tilting her head to look up at him. The sunlight caught her pinkish cheeks, making her appear even more delicate.
“Big Brother, I swear, I wasn’t thinking about James at all. He’s a total jerk. The only one in my heart is you!”
To emphasize her point, she added firmly, “I promise!”
