Knock Knock

332 Words
Sirens wailed as the building was in flames. All they could here was the screams of a girl who was trapped inside. As the fire stopped spreading. The screams faded away. Cadence blinked as she stared at the computer screen. The colourful lights from the small project she was colouring in flashed into her face. She averted her eyes towards the time at the corner of the screen which showed 2:56 a.m. Standing up from the chair, she grabbed a glass of water from the small corner of the apartment which apparently was the kitchen. She wobbled as she stood up since she had been sitting there for who knows how long. Cadence missed the feeling of sleeping in her bed as projects kept going. Her professor, Phillip Wilkinson had taught her all she needed to know in animating and she looked up to him despite all the work he gave, but now, she needed a break. The apartment was dusty and quite empty as she had only moved in a week ago. Though, she knew she didnt have to decorate it that much because she was never at home. A few minutes passed and she walked over to her bed. As she was about to tuck herself in, she heard three knocks on the door. 'Who the hell is knocking at my door at 3 o' clock in the morning?' she thought to herself. Getting out of the covers, she walked over to her door and looked through the small hole to see who it was but no one was there. 'Strange.' she shrugged and walked back towards her bed but there was another knock. Annoyed, she walked to the door and opened it looking out in the hallways. No one was there. "Hello?" she called out. There was no answer. Feeling slightly uncomfortable, she walked back in and locked her door. She straight away went under the covers and closed her eyes.  Not knowing that something was looking at her.
