Ethan stood in his office, staring out at the city skyline, his mind restless. The events of the previous day played over in his mind—the wedding, the vows, and the way Madison had looked at him with a mix of curiosity and caution. The intercom buzzed, interrupting his thoughts. "Mr. Brown, Davies is here to see you," came the voice of his secretary. "Send him in," Ethan replied, turning to face the door as it swung open to reveal Davies Jokes, his loyal assistant and friend. Davies entered with his usual air of efficiency, a tablet in hand and a mildly reproachful expression on his face. "Ethan, we need to talk."Ethan raised an eyebrow, amused by his friend's serious tone. "What’s on your mind, Davies?"Davies sighed, placing the tablet on Ethan’s desk. "You got married yesterday, and here you are, back at work like it’s any other day."Ethan shrugged, a wry smile tugging at his lips. "Business doesn’t stop just because I got married, Davies."Davies shook his head, clearly unimpressed. "It’s not just about business, Ethan. Madison’s your wife now. She shouldn’t be left alone at home the day after your wedding. "Ethan considered his words, the truth in them undeniable. He had been so focused on maintaining his routine that he hadn’t fully considered how his actions might affect Madison. "You're right," Ethan admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "I should be with her."Davies nodded, satisfied. "Take the rest of the day off. Go home, spend time with your wife."Ethan agreed, paging his driver to bring the car around. It was already getting dark as he made his way home, he found himself contemplating his responsibilities—not just as CEO but as a husband. Madison deserved more than his absence; she deserved his effort and attention. When he arrived at the villa, he was informed by one of the staff that Madison was in the garden. He walked through the house, his footsteps echoing in the quiet halls until he reached the garden. There, amidst the flowers and the fading light of day, he found Madison asleep on a lounge chair, the book she had been reading lying open on her lap. Her breathing was soft and even, her expression serene in repose.Ethan paused, taking in the sight before him. Madison looked peaceful, her features softened by sleep. He couldn’t help but notice the way her lips pouted slightly, her lashes casting delicate shadows on her cheeks.Something stirred within him—a sense of protectiveness and admiration that he hadn’t expected. Madison was more than just his wife by arrangement; she was a person with her own thoughts, feelings, and dreams. He approached quietly, crouching beside her to gently lift her into his arms. She was light, her head resting against his shoulder as he carried her back into the villa, careful not to wake her. Once in her room, Ethan laid her gently on the bed, brushing a strand of hair from her face. He lingered for a moment, watching her with a mixture of curiosity and newfound respect. As he turned to leave, Madison stirred, her eyes fluttering open to meet his. Their gazes locked, a silent exchange passing between them—unspoken yet deeply felt. "Did I fall asleep?" Madison murmured, her voice thick with sleep.Ethan nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "You did. I thought you’d be more comfortable here."Madison looked at him, her expression softening with gratitude. "Thank you, Ethan."The simplicity of her words resonated, a reminder that small gestures could bridge the gap between them. Ethan nodded, the weight of his responsibilities shifting as he realized that being a good husband required more than just presence; it required understanding and effort. "come downstairs, food is ready" he said coyly as he left the room. Ethan found himself contemplating the possibilities of their marriage. It was a journey neither had anticipated, but perhaps, with time and patience, it could become something meaningful.
