“What discussion were you having with Xavier that took you so long?” Emerald asked, worried as she sighted Jason coming out. “Something about Samatha’s troubled bodied” he replied Getting into the car. “Haven’t you always been such a jerk, CEO Jason?” Jason ignored her and drove out of the restaurant premises. “Want to have lunch? You passed the company lunchtime,” Jason said. “Why do you care?” Emerald replied sharply. “Okay. You can eat dinner at home,” he said. “Ha ha, CEO Jason. Do you want me dead? There’s only piles of lettuce and other types of vegetarian food there, and I’m not one. How could you tell me to eat only dinner?” Emerald complained, glaring at him with her side eye. “Ha. You’re such a troublesome creature,” Jason sighed and drove towards a large restaurant. "actually......,I don't think I'm hungry anymore..." Emerald gasped looking at the expensive building before her. "why?" Jason asked "I left my credit card at home so....."Emerald was gesturing. "who told you that you're to pay the bills" Jason asked looking at her from the mirror. "my instinct" Emerald replied fumingly. "sorry boss" she added releasing she had to maintain the word's of her mouth as he glared. "let your instincts pay your bills then" he was saying in his mind. "Do you have a boyfriend?" Jason asked, concentrating on the road. "Why?" Emerald replied sharply, turning to face him. "Wanna know who my rival is in this game of love," he replied. They were silent for the rest of the drive till they finished their meal, and he drove her home. They didn't start any conversation.Jason's car stopped in front of Emerald's apartment. She got off and walked tiredly towards the entrance of her door. "Miss Blake," Jason called from the car. "Can I spend the night here?" he asked. "What?" Emerald resisted, confused that he wanted to spend the night here with her. "I can't—" She was interrupted as Jason walked to her, grabbed the keys, and got into the room. "Having him here is like inviting trouble," she said, sighing heavily as she walked in. "Any dinner?" Jason asked as he saw her removing her shoes carelessly in the sitting room."Nope. I'm lazy in the kitchen," she replied, kicking off her shoes carelessly toward the shoe rack. "Can you behave like the heir that you are?" she complained, walking wearily towards the kitchen as he followed behind, throwing off his suit jacket on the ground. "Can you stop behaving like this, CEO Jason? Is this how you behave in your home?" Emerald asked, entering the kitchen and picking up some vegetables. "Nope. At my house I have people to pick them up," he replied, brushing past her back as he picked up a coffee cup and filled it. "Can you please stop?" Emerald groaned, facing him promptly. "Only you can make me stop," he replied, leaning down as she felt his lips brushing hers. "I don't understand," Emerald said, breathing heavily. "Yeah. Let me make you understand," he said. He crashed his lips to hers, kissing her roughly as he forced his hand behind her waist. He pulled her up to the kitchen counter, kissing her fiercely. He traced his finger to her butt and grabbed her firmly as she moaned, but he covered it with kisses. He traced his kisses to her neck. His fingers unbuttoned her shirt as he lustfully kissed her lips firmly while unbuttoning her shirt. Jason stopped. "merald," she said, pushing him back as they broke the kiss, breathing heavily. "We don't have to do this," she added. "Says who?" he replied, making another effort to continue. But Jason pushed him back and got down from the counter. "Emerald, why are you doing this to me? I love you," Jason said, moving to her again. "Can't you see?" he added, grabbing her hands. "Jason, I just don't know what to say. We are not meant to be," Emerald said, releasing her hands. "No, Emerald. Look into my eyes and tell me that you don't love me like you really do," Jason said, feeling hurt by her response. "I don't love you. Don't you get it? I can never be yours," she yelled. Jason smirked, then moved out of the kitchen, picking up his suit, and walked out of her apartment. Emerald broke down as she heard the sound of the front door shutting. Tears filled her eyes as she sat on the cold kitchen floor. "I didn't mean to hurt him," she cried, realizing the hurtful words she had spoken to him. *"Why are you doing this to me? I love you."* This word echoed in her head as she kept repeating, "I'm sorry, Jason. I'm sorry, Jason.".
