Gregor's POV
“He'll be here soon,” I said again as my eyes strayed to the broken windows of the Cadillac.
The little I knew Luca, I knew he was never late to anything.
“Someone's coming,” Carlson growled, getting taut, ready to battle.
“Calm yourself,” I said. “It's only Luca.”
“And you know this how?”
“Don't tell me you don't know the scent of your Alpha's son,” I glared at him.
It wasn't possible. Every wolf in the pack knew the Alpha's scent and that of his son too. Zonda too—the cranky old wizard.
The huge brown wolf with the crested chest appeared from behind the bushes, panting as he came, his cold eyes steady and the muscles on his body twitching. He shifted right before our eyes into Luca, the Alpha's son.
I signalled to Carlson and he tossed the pair of clothes he had found inside the car to him. I looked away as he began to wear them.
“Did you catch any scent in the car?” Luca asked, opening the door to the driver's seat.
“There was a struggle. There were at least three wolves.” I approached him as he sniffed inside the car. I could hear his heart pounding in his chest.
“Any trails?”
“Yes,” Carlson said, inching closer. “We followed it deep into the woods but lost it at some point. The trails were already old.”
I caught his eyes.
“They led to the… river.” I realized something. Luca seemed to realize it too. There was blood inside the car and we had lost the trail at the river. It could only mean one thing.
I watched Luca as he stood up straight, his eyes glazed as he clenched his fists.
“They killed him,” he said, looking us in the face. The other wolves came closer as he said this.
“They killed him and I know who did it.”

Elisha's POV
Luca had been quiet throughout the whole drive. He had been quiet even when I drifted round that bend. That's so unlike him. I heard his heart skip a beat as we walked into the mall. I knew something was up with him but I wasn't going to ask unless he told me himself. He hated that s**t. He hated people being up in his business and I respect his privacy even though I pushed it with him sometimes.
“He'll talk when he's ready,” I muttered as I looked around the mall trying to decide what to buy.
Shopping alone was tricky. Luca knew this, that's why he had me come along with him. He made me tag along then left the whole thing to me. The backstabber.
My eyes surveyed the mall as I walked past the stacked up goods arranged side by side in columns, dutifully meandering my way around other shoppers who seemed eager to run into me.
Two she-wolves giggled as I avoided bumping into them. I turned to look at them and gave a little smile as they waved.
“Ouch,” a soft feminine voice groaned as the softness of her body bumped into me. I turned around immediately. She was sprawled on the floor, her basket upturned and its content scattered all over the floor
“I'm so sorry,” I apologized, helping her to her feet. I knelt again gathering her stuff back into the basket, arranging them neatly as I did.
“Here,” I handed the basket back to her.
“There's no problem,” she said cheekily, moving her hair out of her face.
“Alright then. I should get go…” the words stuck in my throat.
I was looking at the prettiest face I'd ever seen in all of Lupestone. Her beautiful long black hair, the deep brown eyes set delicately into her face, the long lashes that fluttered like birds when she smiled and the freckles underneath her eyes—I could feel my heart racing as I stared into her face.
“...and I'll have to find her.”
“What?” I broke out of my trance.
She'd been talking the whole time and I hadn't heard a word she said. How could I listen when I ogled the goddess that stood in front of me. The way her lips parted when she talked—those thin, rose-red lips…. If the Moon goddess were to take form as a she-wolf, I'm sure she'd look like her.
“I came here with a friend. We got separated mid shopping and I have to go find her,” she said again.
“Oh…”
My eyes pierced into hers. I had a lot of things I wanted to say but my voice failed me. She looked away when my gaze lingered on her face for too long.
“She's shy. I like that,” I thought as my lips curled up into a smile.
Her fingers twirled her long hair as she stared down at her feet shuffling from one leg to the other.
“Pardon my manners,” my voice finally switched back on. “Are you from around here? What pack are you from?”
“The Nightmoon pack,” her thin voice came again.
Yes! She was from our pack! That makes things a lot easier.
“I have to go now,” she said again.
Her voice sounded melodious—soothing to the ear that heard it; to my ears. I didn't want her to leave.
“I'm Elisha by the way,” I said as she started walking away, her hips swaying gracefully as she did.
“Nice to meet you Elisha,” she said, turning to look at me, her lips smiling.
“I'm from the Nightmoon pack too,” I called after her. “We should hang out sometime.”
“Sure,”she turned again smiling, revealing her flawless dentition. “Come find me.”
“I will. Can I get your name at least?”
She stopped walking. The air seemed to freeze as she turned to me walking some paces back. The smile still clung to her lips.
My heart pounded faster with every step she took. I was disappointed when she stopped halfway to me. But thank Goddess she did. If she had come any closer, she would have heard the sound of my heart thumping crazily against my chest.
“I'm Jenine,” she mouthed, walking away, my eyes following her until she mixed up in the crowd.
