Elisha's POV “Hey Karl,” I called as he walked past me. His eyes squinted like they always did. “Have you seen Luca?” “No,” he replied, his voice flat. He kept walking. I had reasons to believe he didn't like me but did I care? Absolutely not. He could go to hell for all I cared. “You should check his room though,” he turned to me. He wasn't in his room. I'd already checked. “Where could this fucker be?” I muttered walking out the pack house, the car keys dangling in my hands. I hadn't seen him since he left the mall in a hurry and I had reasons to believe something was wrong. I could feel it in my guts but what? Today couldn't get any worse. I drove out the gates. Luca had abandoned me for all I knew. He'd bailed out on the shopping HE had suggested—leaving before it even began. And I had promised some random girl that I was going to find her. f*****g hilarious. I decided I was going to do it then. I was going to find the girl. Since I couldn't find my friend, I might as well put my energy into something productive. I felt bad as I made this decision to look for a girl I just met instead of my friend but knowing Luca, I wouldn't be able to find him unless he wanted to be found. The sneaky bastard. And so I drove out keeping to the road with the windows wound down. I didn't drive as I usually did—fast and furious. Instead, I drove fairly quickly like every other normal person would. I guess that makes me abnormal. “Move ya slow ass off the f*****g road,” a heavily tattooed guy yelled at me as he pulled up to my side. His friends hollered through the open roof of their car, making faces at me as they sped past me. Their mistake. A challenge was something I never backed away from. “A good day for a race then,” I revved up the car, stepping hard on the accelerator. The engines roared as I pulled up beside the junky-faced guys in their car just in time to see one of them sniff in a white substance through his nostrils. He passed the substance to his friends. “I can't believe I was about to race a bunch of junkies,” I smirked as I lifted my foot off the gas pedal. It wasn't worth it. They weren't worth my time. I stepped hard on the brakes as the junkie-filled car swerved in front of me, my tires screeching as I swerved hard to avoid bumping into them. “Mother f*****g cunts,” I yelled as I finally got control of the car, my blood boiling. Not everyone should be allowed to drive for f**k’s sake. Their mocking laughter rang clear in my ears. One of them decided to spice things up by showing me his middle finger, his head bobbing out the top of the car. That was it. I wasn't going to let a bunch of dunderheads make fun of me and get away with it. The car's engines roared as I stepped hard on the gas, my eyes focused and my hands clutching the steering wheel tightly. I caught up with them in no time. The wide road spread in front of us, the trees and shrubbery a green blur as we zoomed past fast. Their driver tried to evade me, making slick maneuvers as he tried to best me. He was good. I'll give him that. I caught up with them again, our tires burning into the asphalt. “But not good enough,” I swerved hard towards them. “Mother f*****g bastard,” I heard them shriek like she-wolves as their car skidded off the road, crashing into a tree with a bang. I swerved back into my lane. “That should teach them,” I sneered, my lips curling up into a satisfied smile as I looked at the bashed car from the side mirror. ***** Laura's POV “Elisha.” “No. Not Elisha. Not him. Please,” I thought as my eyes settled on Jenine’s happy face. The glee in her eyes. Elisha of all the wolves in Lupestone. What twist of fate is this? We had literally left our territories to go shop in a completely different territory. What were the chances of us—Jenine—running into him there? The chances were terribly low. This shouldn't be happening. And he'd already promised to come find her. The fucker. He would definitely find her. Seeing the look on her face, the way she spoke about him, I couldn't tell her. I knew I had to but how? How could I tell her without making it seem like I was jealous. Overbearing. How could I tell her without taking away this happiness she felt for the first time since she ended up here? How could I tell her what a monster he was?
