"What do you want from me?" Ava asked, her voice steady despite the nervous energy coursing through her veins.
Alexei's eyes were softened slightly, though his senses remained guarded. "I know you're still searching for the truth about the disappearances. But so am I."
Ava's skepticism was evident as she crossed her arms. "And why should I believe you? How do I know you're not just trying to lead me into a trap?"
Alexei took a step closer, his voice sounding low. "Because I want to stop Viktor as much as you do. He's dangerous, and if we don't stop him, many more lives will be at risk."
Ava studied his face, searching for any hint of deception. She found none. "Alright, then tell me everything else you found."
Alexei nodded, taking a deep breath. "Viktor is using dark rituals to increase his power. The disappearances are part of his plan to exploit the ancient prophecy, one that could tip the balance between our world and the human one into chaos."
Ava's eyes widened. "I've heard this about the prophecy. Lilith mentioned it."
"Yes, Lilith," Alexei said, a note of disdain in his voice. "She's dangerous and not to be trusted. She's playing both sides, and her true intentions are unclear."
Ava frowned. "But she seemed to genuinely want to help me."
Alexei shook his head. "She's a master of manipulation. Be cautious around her."
Ava absorbed this information. "So, what do we do now?"
"We need to find out more about Viktor's plans," Alexei said. "And we need to do it quickly before he gains any more power."
Ava nodded. "I have some information that might help. Notes I've been compiling. Maybe together, we can piece it all together."
Alexei's eyes brightened with a little bit of hope. "Let's do it."
They found a secluded corner of the library, spreading out Ava's notes and files on an old wooden table. There was light from a nearby lamp shining bright over the papers, adding to the sense of urgency.
Ava couldn't help but notice the intensity with which Alexei studied each piece of information. He was meticulous, his mind sharp and focused.
"This here," Alexei said, pointing to a note about a recent disappearance. "It matches the pattern of Viktor's previous rituals. He needs specific types of people for his rituals, those with certain energies or abilities."
Ava nodded, her mind racing. "And the locations? Do they have any significance?"
Alexei's eyes narrowed as he traced a map with his finger. "Yes. He's following a ley line, a path of energy that runs through the city. Each disappearance occurs near a point of convergence."
Ava's breath caught. "So, if we can figure out the next point, we can stop him."
"Exactly," Alexei said, his voice resolute. "But we'll need help."
Ava hesitated. "Who can we trust?"
Alexei's expression darkened for a while . "There's one person who might help us. His name is Sergei. He's an old friend and has connections in both the human and supernatural worlds."
"Can he be trusted?" Ava asked, her skepticism evident.
"Sergei has his own code of honor," Alexei said. "He'll help if he believes it's the right thing to do."
Ava nodded, feeling a surge of determination. "Alright. Let's find him."

Sergei's lair was an unassuming warehouse on the outskirts of the city, a place where the shadows seemed to cling to every corner. Alexei and Ava approached the entrance cautiously, their senses on high alert.
Alexei knocked on the metal door, the sound echoing in the stillness of the night. A moment later, the door creaked open, revealing a burly man with a weathered face and piercing gray eyes.
"Alexei," Sergei said, his voice a low rumble. "It's been a long time."
"Too long," Alexei replied, stepping inside. "We need your help, Sergei."
Sergei's eyes flicked to Ava, assessing her. "And who is this?"
"Ava Collins," she said, extending her hand. "I'm a journalist."
Sergei grunted, shaking her hand briefly. "Journalists bring trouble."
"She's different," Alexei said. "She's the Seeker."
Sergei's eyebrows raised slightly, but he didn't comment. Instead, he gestured for them to follow him deeper into the warehouse.
The interior was a labyrinth of crates and equipment, with a small office space tucked away in one corner. Sergei led them to the office, where he motioned for them to sit.
"What do you need?" Sergei asked, getting straight to the point.
Alexei and Ava quickly explained the situation, laying out their findings and the urgency of stopping Viktor.
Sergei listened intently, his expression was growing more serious as they speak. When they finished, he leaned back in his chair, his eyes thoughtful.
"Viktor is playing a dangerous game," Sergei said finally. "But he's not invincible. If we can disrupt his rituals, we can weaken him."
"Do you know where he'll strike next?" Ava asked.
Sergei nodded. "There's an old abandoned church on the edge of the city. It's a convergence point on the ley line. If he's following the pattern, that's where he'll be."
Ava felt a surge of fear. "Then we need to get there before he does."
Sergei stood, looking determined. "I'll gather some people that might be helpful since we'll need all the help we can get."
As Sergei made his calls, Alexei turned to Ava, his expression being serious. "This will be dangerous, Ava. Are you sure you're ready for this?"
Ava met his gaze, "I have to be. We have to stop him."
Alexei nodded, a hint of admiration in his eyes. "Then let's do this."

The abandoned church stood silent immediately they worked together and planned on their next move which could lead to the death of the packs. Alexei, Ava, Sergei, and a handful of Sergei's allies approached the building under the cover of darkness.
Alexei held up a hand, signaling for everyone to stop. He scanned the area, his senses were fully active "We need to be very careful and alert. Viktor will definitely have guards."
