I was still curled up on the couch, the blanket tucked around me and Hollister purring quietly on the rug by my feet. My eyes stayed fixed on the television as the ice hockey match came to its end. When Daelan’s team was announced the winner, I could not help but smile. The players skated across the rink with pure joy, hugging and congratulating one another. My chest felt warm watching it, imagining the look of pride on Daelan’s face.
The screen shifted to the next segment, and the cheerleading squads began skating into the rink for their competition. The girls looked beautiful and confident as they danced and shouted, each squad dressed in colors representing their schools. Their synchronized flips and spins lit up the ice.
