CASSIE'S POV.
I pressed my hand against my chest, trying to steady my breathing. My whole body was trembling now, but it was no longer just from fear, it was from the overwhelming rush of relief and disbelief. Just minutes ago, I had been sure that no one was coming, almost forgotten that Sandy was out there at the corridor whom I could cry out for help, and thought that I would have to fight Jimmy alone.
She turned her head to glance at me, her expression softening slightly. "You okay?" she asked, her voice quieter now, but still laced with concern.
I swallowed hard, my throat raw. I wanted to say yes, but the word would not come. Instead, I gave a shaky nod, my eyes darting back to Jimmy on the floor.
But then, she pulled me away, her steps quick and sure.
