Ruby leaped into action and took Sugar Pop from Presley’s outstretched arms. “Your shirt! I’ll take her outside,” she said apologetically as she whisked the dog out the door.
Sugar Pop’s little bug eyes were full of remorse and fear and Presley felt sorry for her. She knew that Rocky’s antics had scared the timid little dog and she hadn’t meant to pee on her sweater. But Presley also felt sorry for herself, embarrassed and wretched in front of Hobie and the perfect Megan.
She wished she had handed Sugar Pop over to someone else to hold. She wished she hadn’t given Jaxson the morning off so he could swoop in and assist her out of this mess.
