Chapter 12: Melody's Recap

Melody’s POV

Being queen for 18 long years, it still feels like it was only yesterday that I started this job. I am working on the paperwork for the few alpha ceremonies that are coming up in the different packs. Both Luca and I have to attend, and I think now that Gabriel is turning 18 soon, he should also start attending them. He is in no rush for the thrown, just like his father was in no rush, but he needs to start attending more pack events to find his luna.

Gabriel doesn’t want the crown until he meets his mate. He wants to share that moment with his one true love. His fathers and I understand, but we met in the middle of his request. If Gabriel didn’t have a mate when he turned 25, then he would take his title as king alone.

I start thinking about all that has happened over these past 18 years…

Red Moon is still thriving with James and Lily running it together as the alpha and luna. It was kind of cute. Lily joined Luca, Gabriel, and me for the alpha ceremony three years ago, since she still hadn’t met her mate, even after traveling a lot in search of her mate. She never thought her mate would have been so close.

As soon as we entered the Red Moon pack house… James came right up to Lily and claimed her in front of everyone. We decided to have her luna ceremony that night as well. It was one of the main reasons that Gabriel wanted to share that moment with his mate. I never saw those two look so happy as when they sealed their mating bond in front of the pack before they had their pack run.

Lily and James are now expecting their first child in a couple of months. My cousins, Michael and Chris Simmons, were helping with the pack as well as the beta and gamma of the Red Moon. They were lucky to be matched with beast humans from Jasmine’s clan after the merge with Raven Moon.

Yuki was a black panther beast human. It was a surprise as she has golden blonde hair and pale skin in human form… but becomes black as night when she transforms into her beast form. Michael was over the moon when he met her and is still a complete love-sick puppy to this day.

Chris’s mate is a cute little rabbit beast human. Olivia is very fast and an excellent healer. I heard from Uncle Alex that during on bad attack from some rogue vampires, thanks to Olivia’s speed and healing powers, they didn’t suffer any loss of life. Though some warriors had some serious injuries. They lived through it. Though after everything had settled down, poor Olivia was so tired that she slept for a couple of days straight.

Over in the Thunder Mountain pack, it seems like Alpha Nicholas and Gamma Rick are the only ones not having any luck with finding their mates yet, but Beta Wilson and his mate, Beta Female Tina, are helping out a lot. It is a lot for the four of them to handle, since they are in the top ranking of packs in our kingdom, but they have a system that works for them.

I just hope those two will find their mates before Tina goes into labor in a couple of months. She is doing too much work as the only high-ranking female that I know.

Aunt Odette helps whenever she and Uncle Raphael are home from their travels, but they are not sure if they can make it back before Tina’s due date.

I hear a loud whooshing sound coming from outside and stand to go to the window. I see a vortex whirlpool in our giant pond that Ren and Riley made near the back gardens. Then Riley popped out of it, not even a drop of water clinging to her.

‘It would seem like our son and the twins are returning home.’ I said to my wolf. Artemis howled in delight.

Ever since my brothers, Eathan and Terrance, and Jasmine took over as the alphas of the Raven Moon pack, portals like this were a common thing there and here.

Jasmine, Kai, Riley, and everyone on the alpha’s guard would make trips back to Edolas to take care of magic beasts running wild, find more beast humans that wish to join our packs, or just to find some kind of adventure that they can't find here. It took a lot of adjusting for not only the beast humans in Jasmine’s old clan, but for the shifters in ours.

There was a lot more magic and changes for everyone. Some of the warriors in Jasmine’s clan would pick fights as strength was how they determined who got respect and who didn’t. Alpha Jasmine had to instill new ways into her people, while my brothers had to instill patience into theirs.

I then saw shadow bears coming out of the vortex with bear corpses on their backs. After the 20th bear came through, I saw my eldest son jump through. I wanted him to be comfortable with all creatures in our world and Edolas, as one can never know where their mate comes from. Plus, with him having both a bear and a wolf, it was getting hard for him to find someone to rival his strength. I didn’t want him to become complacent or cocky with how strong he is.

I sigh as I look up towards the sky. It has been 18 years since that day, and the pain in my heart still eats at me.

I know that my little pup is alive because of Titan, but I still can not help but feel sad that I have to leave her care in the hands of others. In the hands of people that I don’t know.

All my worries would come to my mind one at a time. Was she eating enough? Was she loved enough? What if she is sick or injured?

‘If we knew where she was, we could bring her home.’ My wolf Artemis says, breaking me from those sad thoughts.

I smiled and thanked my wolf for comforting me once again. I know we would, but that only leaves one last question that my wolf had herself. Would we ever get to see our little princess again?

There has not been a day that goes by that we haven’t looked for my little Danica… but as the queen of werewolves, werebears, and vampires, I can not put everything on hold. I still have to help my mates run our kingdoms and be there for our people. As much as it pains me to not look for my daughter, it pains her fathers the most.

Jeremiah and Luca were so close to catching up to Fraudrin, but were not quick enough that he tossed our daughter over the waterfalls before they caught him.

Luca and Jeremiah searched and searched for days along the river… but could not even find her little body. We then made the hard decision to announce that she had died to the eyes of our kingdom, but only close family and friends knew the truth. We would search for her ourselves. That is one of the main reasons that my uncles, aunts, parents, and even my grandparents were traveling so much. Most think that they are just enjoying their retirement, which they are, but they are also searching and keeping an eye out for our lost princess.

Even when Gabriel has taken trips around to other pack lands, he tries to see if he can find his twin sister… but we didn’t need people bringing baby girls to us in hopes of a reward, and we certainly didn’t wish to put our daughter's life in danger should anyone discover her true identity.

The doors fly open, and I turn to see my 15-year-old sons, Alex and Allen, come in with their younger twin sisters on their shoulders.

Alex is the middle son of our triplet boys I had a few years after our eldest twins’ 3rd birthday, and Allen is the youngest of the triplets. My mates had become crazy after they knocked me up. Leaving no room for anything to happen to the triplets.

Susie and Sally are 10 and are playing with their brothers’ ears right now. Just like with the beast humans that have joined our packs from Jasmine’s clan, some of my children can grow ears and a tail… except for Sally and the eldest of my triplet boys, Anton. They have more vampire genes than the others, so they don’t have ears and tails, but they started craving blood sooner than normal vampire children.

Gabriel even asked his dad, Jeremiah, if Anton could take over being the king of the vampires. As he did not have a vampire, nor did he want all the powers of three kings, as his birthright entailed. Jeremiah said that it would be something to see about in the future.

Normally, the royal blood of the next heir would be prominent and enticing to other vampires.

Anton does not show these traits yet, and he seems to be more interested in learning alchemy and magic from Parker and Estarossa. That was one of the main reasons Jeremiah and his siblings were kept close to the king and queen until they could defend themselves.

Drinking the blood of a true royal heir vampire can make the wrong vampire very strong. Strong enough to overrule the royal family and take over.

“I take it that Anton is with Parker and Estarossa down there?” I ask, but I am already turning to the window and seeing my second eldest son already examining one of the bear corpses. Alex and Allen both chuckle as they nod their heads.

“Our big brother is more into the research of magic beasts than anything else.” Alex said.

“Yeah, with everything that he learns from Uncle Parker, Uncle Estarossa, Aunt Sabrina, and Aunt Shianna… he certainly is never bored.” Allen added.

I smiled at my children. I never forgot the child I lost, but I hope I raised the rest of them with enough respect and love that they will be great leaders for our kingdoms. I want them to be able to stand together in this world, because this world and every other like it is full of things that can change everything.
