Our cottage is dark when we step inside. I turned off all the lights when we left to go into the village. I should have remembered to turn some lights on for our return but I was too excited to think about it. Lucas places me on the floor once we get inside and I feel along the wall for the light switch When the lights are on, I look over at Lucas and notice his face is a bit pale, and I don't think it has anything to do with carrying me over the threshold. “Lucas," I say, trying to figure out how to approach the subject, “what happened back there?" I want to tell him what I suspect it was, but I don't want to push him. “I'm fine," Lucas says and he walks away from me, shrugging off his jacket to get ready for bed.
