Mark's heart swelled with a mix of joy and pride. With the short time he had known her, he was already falling in love with her. "Judy, you deserve the world. I'll do whatever it takes to keep you safe and happy. Seeing you smile like this makes everything worthwhile."
However, unbeknownst to Mark, Judy's happiness stemmed from more than just the material gifts. She clutched the hidden note from her brother, its contents providing her solace and hope. She dared not reveal her true emotions or intentions, afraid that it would raise suspicion and jeopardize their fragile circumstances.
Hastily tucking the note away, Judy shifted her focus, diverting Mark's attention by requesting his assistance with her new phone. "Oh, Mark, could you help me set up this phone? I'd love to have your number saved so we can stay in touch even when you're at work. It would mean the world to me."
A genuine smile graced Mark's face as he gladly obliged. "Of course, Judy. I'd be honored to have my number in your phone. It's a small way to stay connected and make sure you're safe and sound. Let's get that set up right away."
As they huddled together, entering Mark's number into the phone, their conversation flowed effortlessly, punctuated by laughter.
Little did Mike know, Judy's mind buzzed with anticipation, waiting for a chance to contact Michael.
In the heart of a bustling city, Daniel seethed with anger. His meticulously crafted plan had crumbled, leaving him frustrated and desperate. He had sent his trusted henchmen to chase after Michael and Emily, the heirs to the Thompson family fortune. Daniel had hoped that by invading their lives, he could seize their wealth for himself. However, the siblings had managed to escape, slipping through his fingers like sand.
Furious, Daniel stormed into his father's study, his face red with rage. "Father, I can't believe the incompetence of those fools you sent! How could they let Michael and Emily slip away? We had everything in our grasp!"
His father, Mr. Lawson, a cunning man with a cold demeanor, glared at Daniel. "You dare question my judgment, boy? This was your plan from the start, and now you have the audacity to blame me?"
Daniel clenched his fists, his frustration boiling over. "You were supposed to oversee this operation! I trusted you to handle it properly, but you've failed me!"
Mr. Harrison’s voice dripped with disdain. "Don't forget, Daniel, that I am the one who gave you this opportunity. You would be nothing without me."
Daniel's face twisted with a mixture of anger and betrayal. "You promised me the Thompson fortune! Now, because of your incompetence, we're back to square one."
Their heated argument reverberated through the halls of their grand mansion, their voices carrying the weight of broken promises and shattered ambitions. But unbeknownst to them, a few close friends of the Thompsons had gathered for a somber occasion - the burial of Mr. and Mrs. Thompson. Their deaths had shocked the community, and whispers of foul play had begun to circulate.
Daniel and Mr. Harrison, disguising their true intentions, attended the intimate gathering, pretending to mourn alongside the other attendees. With feigned concern, they suggested the idea of a private investigation to locate the missing children. Their ulterior motives were hidden beneath a veil of false sympathy. If news of the investigation spread, their chances of eliminating Michael and Emily discreetly would be jeopardized.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to the Harrison’s, the Thompson family lawyer, Mr. Stevens, had taken charge. Recognizing the importance of keeping the business afloat, he had appointed a trustworthy employee to manage the company temporarily. The lawyer had also engaged a skilled private investigator to find the missing siblings and uncover the truth behind the tragedy that had befallen their family.
As the days stretched into weeks, the search for Michael and Emily intensified. Daniel, fueled by his thirst for power and wealth, dispatched his loyal minions to every corner of the city in search of any leads. His desperation grew with each passing day, knowing that time was not on his side.
As the night enveloped the house, Judy sat in her room, her heart racing with excitement and relief. With Michael's number now safely stored in her new phone, she wrote a text message, eager to talk to him. It was a lifeline, a way to bridge the physical distance that separated them.
"Hey Michael, it's me, Judy. I got your number. Let's talk
when you can. Just remember, we have to be cautious. Love you."
Michael had been staring at his phone, waiting for when his
sister would call. As soon as he saw his phone light up, he grabbed it and read
her message.
Within moments, her phone buzzed with a response from Michael.
Their conversation flowed effortlessly, carrying them through the night.
“Have you thought about school yet? What are your plans?Do you
need help with finding a school?”.
"I'll start looking for one tomorrow. No, you don't need to help
me, I can do it by myself. Besides. You can't leave Marks House yet. Without
being followed, Or bodyguards. I'll keep you updated on what I find. and where?”
“OK, I understand be careful. “
"We have to stay strong, Judy," Michael said, filled with determination.
"We'll find out who's after us and make
sure they pay for what they've done. But for now, let's focus on staying safe
and keep each other informed."
Judy nodded even though he couldn't see her. "You're right,
Michael. We can't risk anything until we're absolutely sure it's safe. We have
each other's backs, and that's what matters most."
As the night wore on, they delved into memories of their
parents, reminiscing about the loving moments they had shared as a family. The
tragedy of not being able to give their parents a proper burial weighed heavily
on both of them.
"I wish we could have given them the farewell they
deserved," Judy said, her tears flowed with sadness. "But right now,
our priority is to survive and find a way to bring justice to their memory."
Michael's heart softened with understanding. "I miss them
too, Judy. But I know they would want us to be safe and strong. We'll honor
their memory in our hearts and keep pushing forward. One day, we'll find a way
to pay our respects."
As the sun began to rise, they reluctantly said their goodbyes
for the moment. They knew they had to be cautious and not arouse suspicion. But
the promise of another conversation brought comfort and hope. They were no longer
alone in their struggle; they had each other.
The virtual presence of each other became their sanctuary,
their safe space where they could be themselves without fear.
When morning came, since Judy had spent the whole night talking
to Michael. She slept in. Mark woke up early and prepared to go to work. He wondered why Judy was still asleep and went
to check on her. He found her sound asleep and decided not to wake her up and
went to work.
Later in the day, when Judy woke up, she saw a message from Mark. She texted him back and apologised for sleeping in. But he told her not to worry. He assumed she had been playing games the whole night out of the excitement of having a new phone.
They chatted for a bit and Mark went back to his work .As the days went by. Judy and Michael kept each other updated. Michael had found a school that did not have a problem with formalities. He registered at the school and, since he was a bright student, he only had one term to go before he graduated and finished high school. Judy, on the other hand, was bored of staying home. She kept herself busy with games and videos on her phone. And one night when Mark came home. They sat down and discussed what she wanted to do with her life. Since she wanted to complete school too. She told Mark she was interested in fashion. And would like to attend fashion school or find work since she did not want to be a burden to mark, but mark would not allow her to think like that, she was his responsibility from the first day he met her. he promised to help her.
