Ashley's POV
I woke up to the sound of Christian's voice, low and husky, as he spoke on the phone. I stretched in bed, feeling the softness of the sheets and the warmth of the blankets. I got out of bed and walked to him, where he was standing at the window, his back to me. I hugged him from behind, feeling his muscles tense and then relax as he hugged me back.
"Who was that?" I asked, my voice still sleepy.
"David," he replied, his voice calm. "He's sending a few guys to go with me to Mr. Li's farm."
I felt a surge of worry and pulled back from him. "What? Why are you going there?"
He turned to face me, his eyes serious. "I need to make sure Mr. Li is going to keep his end of the deal."
"But why do you have to go alone?" I asked, feeling a sense of unease.
