I was furious, my anger boiling over like a pot about to overflow. "You didn't tell me Christian had a wife?"
I sighed in annoyance "She's the stupid ex I told you about," I spat, my words venomous. I turned to the receptionist, my eyes blazing with fury. "What made you think she was his wife? Did she show you any proof? Do you know you can be fired for wrongly discharging a patient?"
The receptionist cowered under my gaze, her eyes wide with fear. I didn't care. I was beyond reason. I turned and walked away, my feet stomping against the floor in anger.
Alexis followed me, his voice calm and soothing. "Ashley, what's going on? I thought you said he was in the hospital. And what's this about a wife?"
