Christian
I knew buying the hospital was a bold move, but I didn't expect Ashley's reaction. She slams the door shut, and I worry that she's left, only to hear commotion on the other side of the door before it opens again. She walks in, frowning, and stands with her arms folded.
"What is going on, Christian? How are you the new boss?" she asks, her tone firm.
I smile, sitting back in my chair. "Well, I figured you'd have no choice but to speak to me if I was your boss, so... I bought the hospital."
She shakes her head, incredulous. "This is a government hospital. How did you manage to buy it from them?"
I chuckle, leaning back in my chair. "You underestimate how rich I am, and besides, everyone has a price at which they can be bought over, even the government."
She sits, smiling, but her eyes are firm. "You have another thing coming if you think I'm going to talk about anything other than your mother's health."
My smile drops when she exactly what Jake said she would. I sigh in frustration. "Ashley, please, just hear me out, okay?"
But she's dead set on not listening to me, and instead, asks about my mother's health. I ignore the change of conversation and continue.
"Ashley, Samantha is my ex, and she's in the past. Apparently, she works in your aunt's company. I didn't know she would be there."
She replies, "If there's no problem with your mother, I'll be leaving."
She gets up to leave, but I quickly beat her to the door, caging her between myself and the door.
"Ashley, Samantha was a mistake that I didn't see until I caught her red-handed. But you... from the first moment I stared into your beautiful amber eyes, I was completely smitten. You have had me in your pocket like no other woman has. I can't stop thinking about you."
I pause, taking a deep breath. "Please, go to dinner with me. Then you can make up your mind about me. Just one dinner."
I look at her, and she's smiling, a beautiful sight. "You're so beautiful," I say, unable to help myself. I lean in to kiss her, but just as our lips are about to connect, a knock sounds on the door.
I squeeze my eyes shut and sigh in frustration. Ashley laughs, and I can't help but chuckle with her. I give her a gentle kiss on her forehead and look into her eyes.
"Soon, I'll have you all to myself, and I won't share," I say.
She blushes red, and the knock comes again. I release her and step back, opening the door.
"So, what do you say, Ashley? Tomorrow night, 8 o'clock. Dinner with me, your new boss?"
She smiles, and my heart skips a beat. "Dinner with the boss? Now, who would refuse that? Fine, but I get to choose where we're going."
I smile, relieved. "Fine by me."
I open the door and let her out, then settle things with the hospital manager. I can't help but feel a sense of excitement and hope. Maybe, just maybe, this bold move will pay off.
As I walk out of the hospital, I feel a sense of accomplishment wash over me. I finally got her to go out to dinner with me. I can't help but feel a sense of pride and admiration for Ashley, who is currently scrubbed in for an operation. I watched her through the glass doors of the operating room, her focus and skill evident even from a distance. My doctor, soon to be my woman, is not only beautiful but also talented and dedicated to her craft. I feel those damn butter flies in my tummy again at the thought of getting to know her better.
I can't wait for tomorrow evening.
Ashley
I'm sitting at my favorite restaurant outside the hospital, savoring my ice cream and enjoying some much-needed alone time. My mind wanders back to the moment Christian caged me in at the office, his eyes burning with intensity. I really wished he had kissed me. I didn't know he liked me that much. It shouldn't mean anything, and I should probably still be careful, but I'm glad he doesn't just want to give up and move on.
As I sit contemplating, Mark joins me, a curious expression on his face. "Hey stranger, you just disappeared. What happened with the head office?" he asks, his tone playful.
I smile at him, feeling a sense of comfort with my friend. "I'm sorry, I just got busy with another major operation and check-up rounds on patients afterwards," I reply, still smiling.
Mark looks at me suspiciously. "What happened at head office? You've been bubbly today, more than usual," he says, his tone teasing.
I gasp, pretending to be offended. "I'm always bubbly!" I say, laughing.
Mark snatches my ice cream and helps himself to it, and I fake hurt, playfully pushing him away. "Yes, you're bubbly, but more so today, especially after you came out of the head office. So, tell me what happened," he says, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.
I take a deep breath, feeling a sense of excitement. "Well..." I start, and Mark leans in, his eyes fixed on mine. I tell him everything that happened with Christian in the office, and Mark listens intently, his expression changing from curiosity to shock.
After I finish, Mark lets out a low whistle. "Wow, he takes being romantic to a whole new level, buying a whole hospital... just wow," he says, his eyes wide with amazement.
I laugh, feeling a sense of delight. "I know, right?"
Mark laughs and says "I would definitely date him if I were you," he says, his tone sincere.
As we're talking, Mark's phone pings, and he checks it, his expression changing from happy to sad in an instant. I frown, feeling a sense of concern. "What's wrong?" I ask, my voice soft.
Mark looks up, his eyes apologetic. "I'm really sorry, baby girl," he says, and then hands me the phone.
My heart sinks as I see the picture on the screen. The caption reads,
"HOT BACHELOR BILLIONAIRE SPOTTED WITH MYSTERIOUS WOMAN."
It's Christian, kissing the same girl I saw at the company.
