Chapter 7

The sound was intermittent. To be sure, Ronald looked more closely again. But he didn't hear anything. Finally, he went back to his activities. Using his skills, he managed to catch a few small fish with his shirt. After that, he took them back to the fireplace. Audrey was still there, adding some tree branches to make the flames bigger. Ronald, who saw this, shook his head. "If the fire is too big, it will make the inner meat still raw, while the outer skin meat is already burnt," he said while putting his shirt containing the fish on the ground. Audrey quickly looked back. She was surprised to see Ronald topless. Her eyes focused on Ronald's boxy chest. It looked firm, full and tempting. In her mind, she wanted to hug him again. On the other hand, there was a feeling of regret as to why she only found out now about Ronald's body posture. Ronald found it strange that Audrey was looking at him intently. So he asked, "Audrey, why are you looking at me like that? Are you starting to get tempted by me?" "What! Tempted?" Audrey quickly looked away. "That wouldn't be possible." "It's possible, it could happen, right? Moreover, the look in your eyes symbolizes a positive sign," Ronald said with a chuckle. Audrey immediately curled her lips. There was a sense of awkwardness in her mind after being caught. Therefore, there was no more answer from her mouth. She just watched as Ronald started to open the wadded-up t-shirt. She found out that it contained fish. "We have plenty of food now. I'll burn this fish too, so it won't spoil tomorrow," said Ronald as he thrust a tree branch into the belly of the fish. Hearing this prompted Audrey's mouth to speak. After a while, she tried to forget what had almost embarrassed her earlier. "Since when have you been looking for these fish?" Audrey asked curiously. As he was about to answer, Ronald suddenly remembered what he had heard earlier. To corroborate the truth, he replied, "Since earlier, when you were daydreaming. But I heard someone calling for help earlier. Did you hear it too?" Audrey immediately turned to Ronald. She furrowed her brow and shook her head, "I didn't hear it at all. Could it be the curious spirits of the corpses of my employees?" Instantly, Audrey walked back and sat beside Ronald. The fine hairs on her skin began to stand up. It was an indication that she was frightened. "Calm down, it's not the sound of a ghost. It also has nothing to do with your employee's corpse. My ears can still hear clearly if it's a human voice," Ronald replied with confidence. Audrey's emotions felt a little calmer hearing him. But only for a few minutes. Suddenly she heard the same thing. "This time I heard it, but the voice sounded far away. Could it be Rose's voice?" asked Audrey as she rolled her eyes to observe her surroundings. Ronald thought for a moment. Then he shook his head, "I'm not sure. I don't think it's Rose's voice. Maybe I'll look for the source after I eat the turkey. It could be the voice of a survivor. It looks like the turkey is cooked." Ronald quickly took that meat. Then he shared it with Audrey. The aroma of the roasted turkey meat was carried by the wind, making it reach Rose and Jerry's noses. This made their stomachs feel hungry. They both immediately peeked at Ronald and Audrey behind the bushes. Both of them could only gulp. On the other hand, Ronald felt full after finishing his meal. After that, he walked to the riverbank to drink. Seeing such an unusual sight made Audrey worried. "Ronald! Why did you drink the raw water right away? Can't you boil it first?" "Your question makes no sense. If I boiled the water, what would I use to collect the water? Besides, this water looks clean and tastes fresh too. I hope you'll drink it after the meal too. I'll go find the source of the sound now," Ronald said as he began to walk away from Audrey. His departure left Audrey feeling scared and lonely. Her eyes kept scanning the surroundings just in case. Meanwhile, Ronald was walking by torchlight. He bravely made his way through the thick undergrowth. Occasionally, he heard strange animal sounds that disturbed his ears. The mountain was completely deserted and tense. The further Ronald walked, the clearer the voice sounded. Until he almost recognized her voice, if it was a familiar female voice. He followed the source of the voice until he reached the center. Ronald's eyes rounded at the horrifying sight before him. He saw that Felicia was in danger. Felicia was an ordinary employee in the same position as him. He saw Felicia hanging from a tree some distance away from where he was standing. Below her, a snake the size of an adult's head was opening its mouth wide. It could even eat a whole human being. "Felicia! I'm coming to help you! Calm down!" Ronald shouted loudly. Felicia, who heard his shout, immediately calmed down. "Is that you, Ronald? I hope you'll leave here soon. I'm not sure if you can save me. Look, the snake is starting to creep on the tree I'm riding on!" Felicia's voice sounded hoarse and panicked. Although Ronald was at a loss for words, he tried to reassure her, "That's right, I'm Ronald. Don't say that. You must be safe." Ronald no longer heard an answer from Felicia. He was sure that she had given up hope. So he began to think hard. At that moment, he noticed the safety objects he was carrying. There was only a torch, a cell phone in his pants pocket and a turkey bone. Earlier, Ronald had repeatedly observed the entirety of the snake. He spontaneously thought, "If the snake was going to eat Felicia, it means that the beast likes all kinds of meat." Suddenly, an idea popped into his brain. Without waiting for time, he put the idea into action by throwing a turkey bone right in front of the snake. "Ronald! What are you doing?" shouted Felicia, who realized something was thrown under her. Seeing the snake let go of the turkey bone made Ronald think that things had to calm down. He quickly gave the signal, "Felicia, stop making noise! Let the snake shift its focus to the turkey bone!" Felicia immediately fell silent. She tried to follow Ronald's directions. Ronald watched closely from a distance. He threw the bones he had brought with him until they were all gone. Sure enough, the giant snake ate the turkey bones with gusto. Taking advantage of the opportunity, he ran with a torch and a pile of dry leaves. Ronald immediately threw the dry leaves right at the snake's head. He immediately threw the torch until the snake's head caught fire. He quickly climbed the tree and helped Felicia down. When they reached the bottom, Felicia hugged Ronald's burly body. Her body shook with fear. "I'm scared Ronald! You did manage to kill one snake. But you don't know that there are many giant snakes here. I've seen them all!"
