Chapter 8

Ronald was shocked to hear that. He thought of a book he had read about snake mating season. He quickly released Felicia's embrace and looked at her beautiful face.

"Now look into my eyes! Reassure your heart that with me, you will be safe. We will overcome all the obstacles on this mountain together. Believe me!" Ronald said as he held Felicia's cheeks with both hands.

Felicia nodded, "Alright Ronald. I'll take you at your word."

"Good! Now come with me. I'll make sure you'll be safer there," Ronald said confidently.

Ronald immediately took Felicia's hand after getting approval. The only light left was the flashlight on his cell phone. He immediately used it.

As he walked, Ronald's eyes and ears didn't miss a beat. He still did not realize that the mountain he was on was not as simple as he thought.

Suddenly, his mind was filled with questions, "Could this mountain be uninhabited because it still harbors rare and wild animals?"

Ronald continued to think about it after seeing the snake earlier. He didn't even notice that he had reached the fireplace.

There he saw Audrey, but not alone. Instead, she was with Jerry and Rose.

Ronald immediately walked towards Jerry and took the remaining turkey meat from the man's hand. "You thief! How dare you eat meat that you consider carrion!"

"Insolent! How dare you call me a thief! You're the one who wanted to poison Audrey by giving her unfit meat!" snapped Jerry as he spat the meat in his mouth onto the ground.

"Whether I want to poison people or not, that meat is mine. Quick, spit out everything that has entered your mouth!" Ronald said in a high tone, as if he didn't want to lose.

Hearing this made Jerry's temper flare. He gave Ronald a hard slap on the cheek. "First slap for a snob like you!"

Just as Jerry was about to deliver the second slap, Ronald suddenly grabbed his hand and twisted it.

"Loser! Do what I tell you! Spit out that food, or I'll split your stomach open!" Ronald's tone was higher than before.

Ronald's eyes flashed with emotion. He was impatient and wanted to rest immediately. So he punched Jerry repeatedly in the stomach.

Audrey, who had been silent, now spoke up, "Stop it Ronald! It's not Jerry's fault, it's mine. I invited them to accompany me here!"

"You!" Ronald didn't continue and just gritted his teeth.

"Come on, get mad at me, Ronald! I'm waiting for you to hit me like you hit Jerry!" Audrey said as she shook Ronald's body.

Ronald quickly dismissed Audrey's hands and said, "I'm very disappointed in you. Now you are free to choose. Do you want to come with me and Felicia, or with the two of them?"

Audrey swallowed hard. This was a difficult choice for her. In fact, she only realized Felicia's presence beside her.

At the same time, Rose came close to Audrey's ear and whispered, "Ms. Audrey, you are the head of the company. You should guarantee our protection. I didn't mean to force you to come with us, I was just expressing my heart."

Hearing that input made Audrey feel guilty. "Well, Ronald, I've made my decision. I prefer to come with Jerry and Rose. But don't worry, I haven't forgotten our agreement when you first helped me here."

Ronald's expression turned disappointed. Actually, he already knew that Audrey would rather come with him. But being instigated by the Satanic woman beside her made Audrey choose that decision.

"Okay. Then, before you go, carry this spear along. This mountain is not safe. Thrust this spear as you walk along the ground. It will leave a trail that I can easily recognize," Ronald said as he handed Audrey the spear in his hand.

Despite her anger, Audrey accepted Ronald's gift.

But not Jerry. Still with his arrogance, he said, "Audrey, what are you carrying that useless thing for? It will only add to your burden later. You better give it back!"

"If you still care about me, that's a sign that you accept it, Audrey." Ronald's gaze shifted to Jerry. "I will say to you once again. Stay out of my business!"

After that, Ronald turned around and walked while holding Felicia's hand. He was planning to spend another night in the cave.

Along the way, out of curiosity, Felicia asked, "Ronald, why did you get so angry with Mr. Jerry? Wasn't it just a trivial matter? So, where are you taking me?"

"You don't need to know my problems. Most importantly, you will be safe with me. I already proved it when I spent the night with Audrey." Ronald's voice was firm.

That kept Felicia from saying much. She only recounted the events she had seen while alone before meeting Ronald.

Ronald had just found out that the mountain was really terrible. He couldn't even calm down thinking about Audrey, who was separated from him. He stopped for a moment to think about it after his steps reached the front of the cave.

"This cave is my place to spend the night. Actually, I still have some leftover snacks from the suitcases I picked up from the victims. There are also some clothes inside that you can use for a change of clothes."

After explaining, Ronald invited Felicia to enter the cave. But Felicia stopped him from entering.

"Ronald, do you find these footprints strange?" asked Felicia, looking down at the ground.

Ronald immediately paid close attention. "Oh my God, what is this again? Why are these footprints so big, and it looks like an animal with sharp nails?"

"Ronald, I'm scared. I'm still traumatized by the snake that wanted to eat me." Felicia whined as she wrapped her arms around Ronald's waist.

Ronald let out a rough breath. He tried to neutralize the atmosphere. "We shouldn't be rash. Let's track down the owner of this footprint! There's something strange about this mountain. Why does everything look like a giant?"

Felicia's face looked puzzled. "Maybe that's why there are no settlements here. Although I'm scared, if I have you by my side, I feel a bit safe. Therefore, I would like to accompany you to find the source of these footprints."

Before taking a step, Ronald prepared some equipment for self-protection. He broke a few small tree trunks. Once he had enough, he started walking while turning on the flashlight on his cell phone.

"Felicia, keep walking while holding my waist!" he ordered.
