Chapter 2

Ronald snorted loudly. He was tired of hearing Audrey say things like that all the time. "If you're still the same as before, I'll throw you off a cliff right now!" Audrey's eyes bulged. She didn't expect that someone who was usually submissive to her, could change her attitude to be brave. Seeing Audrey only silent, made Ronald again observe his surroundings. His eyes accidentally caught the appearance of a small cave only two meters away from where he was standing. Without thinking, Ronald ran there with his breath in his throat. After arriving, he dropped Audrey's body roughly. "Ouch! My leg! Can you lower my body gently?" Audrey winced in pain. Her eyes looked teary. "Don't provoke me anymore. You had better obey." Ronald said as he gathered tree trunks and branches around him. After that, Ronald took the lighter that was in his pocket. Wherever he was, he always carried matches and cigarettes. But his cigarette was wet. So he couldn't use them. Now the bonfire that Ronald had made was lit. The flames made the surrounding air warm. Feeling the silence, Ronald watched Audrey, who was holding her mouth to make a sound. Suddenly he remembered when he had taken the lighter from his pocket earlier. His hand accidentally touched his cell phone. Because of the cell phone, he felt there was a bright spot for the next life. Ronald immediately took the flat object and turned it on. But there was no signal, given his position on the mountain. He felt hopeless and put his cell phone back in his pocket. By this time, the wind was blowing hard and drizzling. The flames that had warmed her body were now gone. Audrey shivered again and moved closer to Ronald. "I'm cold, and my legs hurt more." For a moment, Ronald just ignored her. He just focused on throwing some tree branches into the fire to make it burn bigger. Luckily, the drizzle had started to subside. So the temperature was warm again. But, after a while, Ronald felt compassion. "I'll rub your feet. This is all I can do. I hope it will ease your pain." Ronald's hands began to gently massage Audrey's feet. His movements were so skillful that the girl felt comfortable. "Ronald, is it possible that only the two of us survived? Considering the condition of the plane that was destroyed like that." Audrey started the conversation to make the atmosphere less awkward. Ronald shook his head. "I don't know. If the result of my observations, is that the survivor in this plane crash is the one wearing the canopy parachute vest. There should be four people, including me. But all I saw was you." "Then, what are your plans for tomorrow? Is it to find a way home?" asked Audrey anxiously. Her face turned pale. Seeing her like that, Ronald felt sorry for her. He tried to calm her down. "That's right. I'm sure there's a house on this mountainside. We just need to hold on for the night. Tomorrow we'll definitely find a way out." Even though his mind was in turmoil, Ronald tried to convince her. Actually, Ronald had suspicions about the mountain he was currently on. He assumed that his position was on a dead mountain, aka uninhabited. Looking at the night atmosphere, there should be lights on the slopes, but in reality there are none. Moreover, the terrible sounds of night animals that are muttering. That is already a sign that nature is still natural. For this reason, Ronald had a bad feeling. But Audrey's expression had already turned calm. Suddenly, the girl's stomach rumbled. "Ronald, I feel hungry. Do I have to hold it in until morning?" "No need. I'll find some food for you in a minute." Ronald shook his head as he searched for a way. Having been in the military and received survival training, Ronald had the skills. He reassured Audrey. "Don't go anywhere. I'll look for something around this cave." "Where do you want to look? Around this cave there are only leaves that can't be eaten," Audrey said with doubt. Ronald chose to remain silent and left immediately. "Ronald! Don't leave me here alone for too long! I'm scared! I don't mind eating leaves near me!" Audrey shouted. Ronald again ignored her even though he was actually worried. He intended not to walk far from the cave. After the drizzle, the road became slippery and dark. He immediately used the flashlight on his cell phone. One by one, he could see the surrounding trees clearly. Given its position on the mountain, the soil should be more fertile. As far as the eye could see, Ronald finally saw apple and berry trees. He immediately went over to the two trees. Luckily, both trees had ripe fruit. After that, Ronald walked away in a hurry. Suddenly, his foot accidentally tripped over a box. He looked down and noticed that it was a suitcase. He eagerly picked it up and carried it to the cave. When Ronald arrived, he saw Audrey frowning at him. The look on her face was one of anger. But Audrey's expression quickly changed when she saw Ronald carrying something. It aroused her curiosity. "Where did you find those fruits? Then, whose suitcase is it?" "You don't need to ask that. What's important is that we eat tonight so we can think about tomorrow," Ronald said as he set the fruits and the suitcase down on the ground. Audrey immediately picked up an apple. She ate it quickly and in a hurry. She looked like someone who hadn't eaten in days. Audrey's attitude made Ronald stifle a laugh. Audrey, who he knew to be cold and strict in the company, had a funny side. After eating, Ronald was eager to open the suitcase. It turned out to be Jerry's suitcase, which happened to contain three large bottles of mineral water, a thick jacket and several packs of food. Audrey was delighted when she found out what was inside. "Wow! You've found a treasure trove! That's exactly what we need right now! So, tomorrow morning you won't have to struggle to find food!" she shouted. Ronald snorted at that. Remembering that the suitcase he found belonged to Jerry. "Yes, Jerry should make amends to me. But, I'm still going to look for food because relying on this alone won't be enough." Seeing that the night was getting late, Ronald immediately closed the suitcase. Then he moved on to arranging a place to sleep. At the same time, Audrey spoke up, "Ronald, if you can take care of me until I get out of this mountain, I will grant all your requests. As long as it's according to my instructions. Are you willing?" Ronald's brow furrowed. After looking at Audrey, his gaze shifted to Jerry's suitcase. Suddenly a request came to his mind, one that he had been harboring for a long time. "Actually, I'm not sure how long our lives can last. But, if Jerry is still alive, and we find him, I want you to fire him." Audrey's face turned agitated. "Ronald! Can you ask for something else?" "You said, whatever I want. So, my decision is inviolable! " Ronald said coldly. He knew that his request would be difficult to grant. Seeing Ronald's attitude become indifferent, made Audrey afraid. With a heavy heart she made a decision, "Okay! I will grant your request!"
