Jac woke in degrees like she normally did. At first, she floated in a warm and comfortable haze, her brain trying to get her attention about the upcoming day, but she ignored it and snuggled down further. If she was lucky, she could head off wakefulness for a few more minutes at least. The duvet was scratchy. She wrinkled her nose and tried to ignore it, but it was rough against her skin. Perhaps the feathers were coming out somewhere. She’d have to replace it soon. Another expense. Sighing, she wriggled to get more comfortable. After a couple of seconds, she frowned.
