Chapter 2

The next morning, our flight landed in Aspen. Before stepping off the plane, I'd already put on my thickest clothes and winter boots. Even so, the biting wind stung my face the moment I stepped outside. I quickly pulled on my windproof face mask and hood. Mandy was only wearing a basic down coat, and I could see her face contorting in the freezing wind. She glared at me, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "You're wearing so much. You must be warm. Give me your hat, scarf, and mask." She reached out to yank off my hood. I violently slapped her hand away. "Don't touch my stuff! You're the one who's going to live-stream in a bikini. I'm not as good at handling the cold as you are." Shivering violently, Mandy glared at me. Seeing me completely bundled up, she snapped, "Mia, you're such an embarrassment to people our age." With that, she ignored me for the entire hike up to the mountain peak. That was fine by me. I enjoyed the scenery along the way, quietly planning what I would do for tomorrow. 'I'll be ready this time. No mistakes.' Once we reached the peak, Mandy seemed to get an adrenaline rush. She quickly stripped off her coat, leaving only a red bikini. She mentioned today was just a teaser video. Tomorrow, for the actual live stream, she'd wear the leopard-print bikini to drive all the men watching crazy. I nodded in agreement. "The red bikini looks amazing too. You're honestly my idol." Saying that almost made me throw up. Mandy beamed with pride. "Mia, once I go viral, I'll gain so many followers. People will recognize me wherever I go. You can be my assistant, and your boyfriend can be my bodyguard." What kind of fantasy was she living in? I almost laughed out loud at her delusion. But I had to admit, Mandy was tough in her own twisted way. In temperatures of -22°F, she stood there in a bikini, striking dozens of poses for me to photograph. I didn't want to stand in the freezing wind with her any longer, so I urged, "Alright, gorgeous. I'm heading back." Before leaving, I turned back to look at the spot where I had died in my past life. Right now, it looked serene and peaceful. But I knew that when the blizzard hit tomorrow, it would turn into a merciless, freezing hell.
