Days after welcome party Z ignored her neighbour and their home direction like they never existed. She couldn't ignore the fuzzy warm spiral of mixed emotions that didn't let her sleep for nights.
Often her heart would beat fast replaying the events of their hug and a kiss that almost happened. 'what would have happened if i didn't stopped her ? How would a women's lips feel ? Would it be as pleasant as her hug was ?' She would question herself.
"Honey come down to living room please. We have something important to talk about " He said getting Z out of her 'what if' trance. Without paying any further attention to why her husband wants her presence she walks downstairs.
On her hugs living room , whole family were seated on lavish black sofa, drinking warm green tea from exquisite imported chinese clay cups.
"Jonah why would you request our presence at such short notice ?" his mom asked. His father stayed calm on his place , waiting for his son to speak further.
"I'm sorry mom, dad" He says looking at them turn by turn. "My mentor and a good friend Judge White , he's coming to our home town for his anniversary.
He's a man of power and good position. If i were to impress him , it'd be great benefits for our law firm" He says rubbing his hands in nervous excitement.
"That's great son , if that benefits you, he should be invited in our home. Call him and tell him that he should stay with us. Z clean our guests room this instance" She orders all excited for her son's possible bright future.
"Wait Z , i need your presence for what I'm gonna say next" He stops Z who's about to walk away to do chores that her mother in law told her to do so.
"There's a big problems though mom" He says feeling awkward as he fix's his grey suit and loosens his tie. "He's a man of honour and justice. I can surely invite him and impress him with our hospitality but he doesn't know that I'm married.
First , Z is not yet of legal age so we aren't registered as lawfully married couples yet. Second we don't look like a believable couple as you can see she's physically too young to pass as my sister rather than wife.
I couldn't say so too because back in days i was his favourite so he knows I'm the only son of family, there's no way he would approve of our marriage that happened being landlord and debtors. " He says getting serious.
"Well that's an issue , we haven't revealed her to anyone yet except neighbors. It's still 8 months before she turns legal" His dad says sipping his tea.
"Yeah that's why i have talked to our new neighbors making an excuse that we're having lots of guests overnight and they have agreed to let our Z crash in there for some days.
She'll be home by day as my assistant because we do need her for managing our home and by evening she'll leave home to our neighbors. So if judge white asks who you are , you'll tell him you're my assistant okay ? Don't tell him about our relationship or our neighbors about judge " He explains to her.
He didn't asked her opinion , neither any of them did. They always expected obedience from her as a good daughter in law and also because she's daughter of their debtor who sold her for his lack of money making skills.
She wasn't supposed to rule that house , even her mother while they departed from each other advised her "Serve masters without asking any questions. Never displease them, our family's stomach depends upon your performance"
Although at that moment she couldn't understand what was her mother trying to say , but now she does.
"So it's final now , I'll invite him tonight and we shall part ways after he arrives tomorrow noon. We gotta make sure everything's perfect. So Z , keep moving and tell maids to clean everything. You better keep good eye on them while working okay" He says kissing her forehead and excitedly entering his office.
