I stared at the bag filled with cocaine in utter and complete amazement. I was too shocked to even express myself properly and it was times like this that I had to really ask myself what my purpose was.
I was digging around the drawers in the room when I had accidentally knocked over something in one of the drawers and soon enough, it lead me to the small baggie of cocaine currently in my clutches. It was completely foreign to me and where I had found it got me thinking.
I had been staring at the baggie for the past ten minutes wondering what to do, who to call and what to think. Mason was the only person I could think of who would have been in any of the drawers in our room and as much as I would like not to say it, Riana did not specialize in going through people's things so she was out of the picture.
I didn't want to think the worst of my brother, but past actions and occurrences had proved to me that I really and truly did not know who he was, if I didn't trust my own blood, who could I trust?
I looked towards the hardwood room door which was cracked a bit to see if anyone was passing by before taking my phone off of the nightstand to take a picture of the bag.
After I had taken the picture I had to take a while to really think about what I wanted to do, I couldn't keep this to myself, I had so many speculations at the current moment and I needed to talk about it to someone, someone I trusted so I called Chandler, the one person I would trust my life with and I truly hope that I wouldn't regret it.
We were currently only three weeks to a month into our little vacation and I was already stumbling upon things like these, it really made me wonder what other substances could be hidden in this house, but I didn't want to put myself in that position, ignorance was bliss after all and I would never put myself in a position to be incriminated.
" Hello? " Came Chandler's through my phone's speaker.
" Can you come to get me? " My voice was a bit shaky which had seemed to get the point across as he wasted no time in making his way over immediately.
The house was empty from what I had seen when I went down the stairs as it seemed as if Riana and her friends had left while I was in the room looking around which was more of a plus for me as I made my way outside to Chandler's car which was parked at the gate, I had no time to admire the vehicle as I quickly jumped in.
" Are you ok? " Chandler asked genuinely concerned.
" Drive, I'll tell you once we're away from here, " And with that, he wasted no time in getting us out of that community.
A few moments later we had gotten to his place.
" So, what's up? " He asked as soon as we walked into his Upper East side home.
Sparing no time, I quickly pulled out my phone bringing up the pictures of the bag of cocaine on my phone to show Chandler.
" Soo, are you on cocaine? " He asked confused.
" No dumbass, I found it in one of the drawers in my temporary room, " I said shoving my phone back into my pocket.
" So, you think it's Mason's, " He said allowing me to nod in confirmation.
" Well, it could be anyone's, " I said still in a small bit of denial.
" Who else's could it be Milan, is there something you're not telling me? " He asked leaning further into the couch.
" Well, I have my speculations, but it's just that, speculation, " I said trying to not look him in the eyes.
" Do she, " He said stroking his chin quite interested in what I have to say.
" I think Janine is exploiting Riana and Mason, " I said in one breath.
" Janine? ", " My Mother, " I answered.
" But exploitation? Isn't that a bit you know, absurd, I know she's not a very good mother and there are some really messed up people in this world, but exploitation, that's far past me, " He said honestly.
" I know, I didn't want to believe that either but I had a run-in with Katie the other day and she told me that the whole getting arrested thing after vandalizing her ex's house was planned, " Chandler looked a little shocked at what I just said.
" Exactly my reaction, " I said to Chandler's surprised face.
" I don't want to believe that my brother is who my mind is trying to perceive him as given the information, but the question is why? He spent most of his time despising Janine, even going as far as saying she abused him, which I believed, but why would you want to go back to your abuser's home, he's in evolved in something, I can tell, but I just hope it's not what I think it is, " I said chewing on my fingernails.
I was nervous, more agitated than ever, my mind was in a whole frenzy and I really couldn't think straight at the moment, everything that I had built around me was taking a steady fall, what I never wanted to believe was the only logical answer at this very moment and it was bothering me, more than it should be.
" I'm trying to process what you are saying, Mason, your brother Mason, might be involved in a heinous d**g scheme or organization, " He said staring directly at me as he sat up in the chair to face me.
" I believe you, " He said as he sunk back into the couch.
" What? " I asked looking at him a bit crazy, more so because I didn't expect him to believe me.
" It's the most logical explanation for this and his strange behaviour, so, I believe you, " He said shocking me even more.
" I honestly don't know what to say, I knew something was off the moment Janine tried to hit me and he just stood there, " I said.
" What? She tried to hit you? When did this happen? " He asked.
" A few nights ago, she was apparently having an argument with Julius and they were being loud and woke me up so I went downstairs, some words were exchanged and long story short, she tried to backhand me but Julius caught her before her hand could even reach anywhere near an inch to my face, " I answered.
" And he just stood there through all of this? " Chandler asked.
" Yes. "
" Have you told your father? " He asked
" No. "
" When was the last time you spoke to him? " He asked
" Last night, I didn't really want to tell him anything to add to his stress, right now, " I confessed
" I think you should tell him, he might have his suspicions also, you never know, because if I can remember, Mr. Knox is always ahead of everything, " He said which was completely true, my father was always ahead of everything, which was probably his best asset next to being the best father one could have.
' I don't know, as I said, I'm not sure, suppose I 'm wrong and Mason isn't doing anything like that, " I said dragging my hands over my face.
" Well, " He stood up from the couch brushing off his pants " You never know, take the risk, " He said leaving me in the living room by myself.
I went from where I was standing to sit on the couch drowning in my thoughts. This could go eft and that was risk I didn't want to take, sure, it was logical but it could also be wrong and a total misunderstanding and I really didn't want to believe that my brother was capable of doing anything to majorly break the law.
I grew up with Mason, he's my own blood, we share everything with each other, we did almost everything together, we always had each other, through thick and thin, we were as close as siblings can be and to think that I couldn't see through this.
They said that when people show you who they really are, believe them and I wasn't going to turn a blind eye to this. So with that being said, I pulled my phone out of my pocket and dialled my father's number.
I listened as the phone went from one wring to another and finally, at the fifth ring, he picked up.
" Milan, is something wrong? I'm a bit occupied at the moment, " His voice made its way through the speaker.
" Dad, I have something I need to tell you, " I said letting out a breath.
" I'm listening, " He replied almost instantly.
" I think Mason is involved in something really illegal, " I said and after there was a long pause.
" I know, " He replied
