Chapter 6

Keith’s POV I was seated in the locker room trying to catch my breath after three consistent hours of intense practice. It had been a month since we had been informed of the grand tournament, which was to happen that weekend. As expected the coach had made sure we trained our asses off for the big match day. I for one had not had enough time to catch up on my social life. Being the debauchery kind of guy, basketball had sure taken up much of my time. This however did not mean that I was complaining, I loved basketball. In fact I loved it so much that I had a picture of Lebron James on my wall since I was twelve. I always dreamt of playing for a big team in future, Lakers perhaps. Anyway being the best basketball player of the year was a great deal for me and perhaps the start of something great. However I felt like I was overwhelmed and I needed to let off some steam. I picked up my phone and decided to call someone who would help me out with that, Jason. “Hey man!” I hailed excitedly. “What’s up dude, you never call me, is everything okay?” he asked clearly shocked. Well texting was the most we did; I mean how weird it was for a dude to call his guy friend. Not unless my girlfriend was acting crazy and I needed an alibi to confirm where I had been and with whom. “Yeah man, everything is okay. I just wanted to know if there is any party tonight, I really need a distraction from the upcoming game.” “What do you mean is there a party? This is Yale, there is always a party. I will text you the address right away.” “Cool” I said as I ended the call. I took my bag and left the locker room. It had really been a long day and I was weary. Then almost immediately a thought crossed my mind, maybe I should pass by Nicole’s place before heading home. I ignited the car and drove off. ** Nicole and I both lived in the leafy suburbs of the town. My dad and her dad had been friends for a long time as they worked in the same law firm. Our fathers had introduced us at a gala and we had not started dating until shortly after she joined Yale, a little over a year ago. She was a sophisticated girl and was obsessed with beauty and fashion. Which was perfect for me, the most popular guy needed the most sophisticated and prettiest girlfriend, right? Our relationship was based mainly on going to parties together, s*x, more parties and more s*x. We never really spent much time together, as she was always up to something new with her group of friends. That worked perfectly fine for me as it meant I got to have more time with other girls, easy. I pulled up at the driveway and walked to the front door of her apartment and rung the bell. I watched her through the glass door catwalk in her extremely high boots to get the door, extra as always. “Oh hey babe, you didn’t say you were coming.” She said clearly surprised to see me. “Aren’t you happy to see me?” I asked grabbing her by the waist and pulling her in for a kiss. “Eew! Gross, you need a shower.” She said pulling away. “I bet I do. I came straight from practice to see you baby.” I asserted trying to get another kiss. “Not until after the shower boo.” She stood her ground and walked into the house, and I followed her in. I went into the bathroom to take a shower and was surprised that my shower gel bottle was empty. I always had most of my toiletries at Nicole’s place in case I needed to spend the night or the weekend at her place. And I had clearly forgotten to replace my shower gel. I decided to use hers which had a vanilla scent, hoping at the back of my mind that no one would notice. I got out of the shower to Nicole seated on the bed with nothing but a matching pair of sexy bra and panties. Now this is what I loved about her. I smiled as I dropped off my towel and walked to her. I took her into my arms and started kissing her passionately. I went down from her lips to her neck and I could hear soft moans escape her lips. I continued my fingers playing in circular motion on her breasts, before I heard her speak “Keith, did you use my gel?” oh crap. “Really? Right now?” I asked disappointed that she would ruin such a moment. “Well I couldn’t help but notice the fact that you actually did. You literally smell like me right now.” She replied laughing. “Oh wow I do? Do remind me to replace mine.” I said trying to sound as sarcastic as I could, and got up to dress for the party. I pulled on some jeans and a hoodie and got ready to leave. “Where exactly are you going?” Nicole asked clearly disappointed that I was leaving. “Jason invited me to a party tonight.” I said trying to remember where I had placed my car keys. “How comes I was not invited.” She implored. “I don’t know, maybe because it is a guy’s only party.” I said, fully aware that the party was definitely not a guy’s only. “I didn’t know those existed.” She said clearly not convinced. “They actually do. See you tomorrow.” I said as I grabbed my keys and left, not exactly sure why I was mad at her. Maybe it was the gel; damn I should have showered without soap. ** I drove to the address Jason had sent me which was not too far off from where I lived. I walked in to loud music and proceeded to the drinks section and poured myself some whisky. I saw some of my friends from the team but I did not really feel like hanging out with them. I sat at the corner of the room nursing my drink. I was in no mood to talk or flirt with anybody, and to think this was supposed to clear my head, sure was not going as I expected. After sitting there for a while, I decided to leave. I stood up ready to make my way out when I saw a particularly attractive girl standing at the other corner of the room. She wore a really nice black dress and I thought her face looked familiar. I couldn’t however figure out where I had seen her. She seemed distressed as she kept on looking at her phone restlessly, and immediately an idea crossed my mind and I walked towards her smiling.
