Chapter 6: Shattered Memories (Part VI)

“Yes, he is. You think the countries have forgotten it due to the wavelength a few decades ago. Apparently we all have our darkness inside Thomas. The same way that I’m doing this to you right now.”

“What is it that you want?” I’m practically just waiting for the effects of this annoying drug to wear off.

“As I’ve said, I’ve come to give you info.”

“Tell me what it is and get on with it…” I’m already getting furious.

“Why are you so impatient? Hmm, I guess there’s no helping it right?” She said as she gave me consecutive kisses like I was some sort of stuff toy or pillow.

“First, the drug that I just gave you is a prototype. It only works for individuals like you and Nikolai. That’s the reason why even though I diluted it inside my mouth, I was unaffected by it.”

“You guys did an experiment on him too… I expected that much…” They managed to create something to pacify Nikolai. I’m curious as to how deep their research went through.

“Yes Thomas, but even after all these years, we cannot replicate it. For some reason, the Philippine government managed to bury its secrets along with those responsible, except for you people of course. That’s the thing that we’ve noticed even if we did try cross-breeding, the DNA and genetic code is far complex and unique that we have anticipated.” I’m laughing with their willingness to go this far.

“But that s**t doesn’t explain why you’re on top of me and kissing me like an animal…” This is classified as s****l harassment even though I am to blame for letting my guard like this…

“Ohh, I’m sorry I forgot you don’t remember me. If you want to know more, you might as well ask Elise. That is if she is willing to tell you about me, Tehee.” Her attitude is annoying!

“Let’s just say that I’ve been trying to track you down for years. Now that I’ve found you, I was so excited that I wanted to eat you.” Her breathing is getting louder and faster. She is literally grinding my groin with my lower part slowly getting aroused. From the current situation, this isn’t the time for me to engage in such acts. I have to keep both my heads calm…

I have to cut the momentum while I still can, “Where’s the info that you’re supposed to tell me?”

She paused, looking at me like I’m some sort of i***t pouting. She doesn’t realize that’s exactly what I want her to think. “Killjoy…” She said, hugging me with her chest smothering my face.

Alecia continued talking, “hmm, during the preparation inside the mansion, we already received intel that an international group is going to kidnap me. We didn’t take it into consideration since the amount of security involved is high and it was just a rumor during that time.”

I tried to wriggle my head upward in order to speak, “What did you find out?”

“It was my fault that I didn’t take it seriously… Even though you were there, I didn’t expect the damages to be this big, including human casualties…” Wait, so was she expecting me to be in the event? She’s hiding something.

“You probably don’t know this but Elise and Sabie were almost on the verge of getting r***d by the hostage-takers. If I missed even a minute, it would’ve been bad already…”

Her seductive and loud breathing was replaced with a demonic and deadly stare. Her pale golden eyes were surrounded red, as she was looking at me in anticipation of the next sentences that would come out of my mouth.

“Tell me what happened…” Alecia asked, finally her serious side is kicking in.

I just told her exactly what I saw, especially what I did to Maria and her boyfriend when I confronted them regarding their stupidity. I also explained to her that as of now Elise and Sabie are in a safe place resting while waiting for my arrival.

Alecia got so angry she was gnashing her teeth. She stood up and fixed her dress. Instantly, the environment became covered in extreme killing intent coming from her, even Grimnoir felt it as something similar to miasma. She took another pill from a small bottle and drank some tea, trying to repeat the same thing she did before. Alecia kissed me and passed something inside my mouth.

“That’s the antidote for the numbness… I’ll be dealing with Maria myself so you don’t have to worry about her doing anything anymore.” 

“What are you planning to do?”

“Drag her down to hell I guess… That b***h has caused Elise and I enough trouble for far too long…” Her words ended with the lightning and thunder echoing outside. Making her statement more sinister than it already is.

“I was supposed to meet with your father via video call… When would that be?”

“I’ll usher some of my men to go inside along with the laptop. Just wait for a couple of minutes,” Alecia replied, she sat down beside me, looking at me slowly regain my limbs.

“I do hope you will remember me soon Thomas. I’ve been longing for you until this day,” She added, biting her lower lip while sitting beside me.

“I have no time to remember anything as of now. Besides, you haven’t told me anything in regards to the case I’m currently at.”

“That’s my dad’s job to tell you. I can only give you what you deserve after all these years.” She went close to my neck to the point that I could feel her breathe crawling.

We heard a few knocks on the door as the windows were covered in dark silhouettes of men. I stood up and opened the door, three of the guards entered carrying a suitcase. They sat down on the sofa as I stood up and prepared more cups and hot water for another batch of guests.

As soon as I placed it, I told them to help themselves with the beverages. The man who appears to lead the group told the rest to drink at their heart's content, from which they did and it pleases me that some sane people finally took my gestures seriously.

They opened the suitcase and a laptop was inside it. This appears to be a device of no brand whatsoever, a lot of wires are attached to the side, and numerous switches are found at the bottom of the keyboard. This is personalized and rigged to remain undetected. Looks like they are trying to establish how important this meeting is.

Alecia was the one to turn the laptop on by using her finger prints, there is a small hatch containing a square-shaped glass scanner used for authentication. After a few minutes of setup, the screens have been enabled and I finally saw the man himself.

“Josef Purchinov in the flesh,” I said as he smiled seeing my face. The bastard appears to be in his office since I can see a lot of the usual stuff when I last visited there.

“The same goes for you Ghost of the Orient. I hope my daughter is doing well in your hands.” He added. His deep, rusty voice reminds me of the time when he was still a soldier during his ascension in power. The man that sits before me is the one who overcame Russia’s civil war, and united his country under one flag.

“I do not know how well is defined according to your standards but she is perfectly fine… Annoyingly fine to be exact,” I replied with Alecia leaning on my shoulders.

“Let us simplify things, Mr. President. I apologize in advance since I don’t have much time to discuss personal matters right now.” I followed up, as I gently poked Alecia’s head out of the camera’s reach

On the other side of the screen, he leaned back on his seat, straightening his back. “I managed to squeeze some information in Europe that an international syndicate is behind what’s going on in the Philippines. Interestingly enough it’s the same group that targeted Alecia.”

“Any specific leads?”

“They are an underground organization. It looks like they’ve been doing this under your government’s radar for years and I’m terrified with the amount of money and effort they used to make it happen. So far, what we only have are their previous transactions even though a lot of data is missing which includes the name of the companies, and even the bank accounts used for money transfer. Other than that, we have nothing...”

“Can you send me the data later? I’ll provide you the email.” Finally some interesting leads.

“No need for that…” Josef said, apparently the suitcase contains a folder with the mark Classified embedded on the front page.
