“There’s no reason for me not to help you but, he’s not the type of guy who would cooperate well.”
I just smiled “I’ll take my chances with this one.”
“You ask for it.” He replied writing something on a piece of paper. His smile expresses a certain satisfaction based on what I can see right now.
At first I thought it was just a bunch of numbers but as it turns out, it had dates and places.
“This is the only thing I have.” Giving the piece of paper to me.
“What’s this?”
“Just show it to the younger one. He knows what that is.” From his remarks, I sensed something out of the usual.
Now I have what I need, there’s still one thing missing.
“Is there a certain place where he hangs out?”
“Yes, there is. A certain bar near the main plaza. You should see him during lunchtime. He always makes trouble around that area, so you’ll notice him. He also wears a belt with a skull, very easy to distinguish from a common person to be around.”
“What? Really? A skull you say.” The people around here are as weird as I am in a matter of sense.
“It’s a fashion statement. During bullfights, he does go loco wearing one of those. Usually, he ends up getting beaten up in most occasions, but I think you’ll meet him.”
Recalling the events that happened on my dream, I found a certain photo with the name A.C., abbreviated as Arcadius Cortez on the side of it. In this case, I’ll have to know if the person I’m about to meet is somehow related to the kid shown on the picture, using him to talk to his father as leverage, gaining access over the accounts.
From there I’ll be calling Carlos for us to start gaining the failed assets in order to save the major establishments in some areas of Spain. If it’s an inflicted damage from the foreign trades, it would be easy to use the exchange market to make changes given that we have the right amount of money circulating in dollars, we’ll be converting it to its opposite by manipulation for a short period of time.
“If that’s all then I’ll be taking my leave.”
“But just in case he doesn’t show up, there are a lot of places where he could be. There’s Barcelona and other places around the east side of the country. He usually roams around in a very disturbing way.”
“I’ll be putting everything I got on this one,” I said to him as I left the place.
I went inside the car while Jose is going inside the building to check his companion.
Starting the car over I immediately went to the hotel to check the outcome of this catastrophe with a lot of local police and emergency vehicles roaming around the streets checking every corner for wounded civilians. Parking the car in front of the hotel, a news team has been interviewing most of the people inside. Given that I removed my mustache, glasses, and contact lens during my drive, it would hard for them to notice me. Distracted on the news crew, their focus should be far from looking at the guest’s appearance since they’re much more worried on the trauma caused by this event.
Taking the stairs, I went to my room and grabbed all of my stuff booking on another hotel not too far from here. Unwittingly, I’ve been compromised with the accident; I don’t want to take any more chances of staying here. Even if my sentimentality is below average, these people are good at what they do for such a low price of service. I’ll be going back once I’m done cleaning up this mess.
Reaching another hotel within the span time of 10 minutes, I rented a room on the second floor since I can’t be more considerate on the place that I’ll be staying. I’ll be saving much energy for tomorrow; you wouldn’t perceive anything except for the crisis present right now. And meeting someone untamable is worth the trouble, if he is Cortez’s son, he could be a springboard for me to use for the long run. It has to work in order for me to gain an advantage worthy of settling the outcome of the conflict in both countries. Just like on a certain saying “Throw a flame on a fox hole, and the fox will come out.” If I could pull this out successfully, I can hunt down the person responsible for this mess for good.
Being escorted by the bell boy to my room, I went inside and closed the room. Stacking all of the folders that I have on the table, I started calling Mr. Galvez to check the progress back at home.
After a few seconds of waiting - “Hello Thomas, I heard you’re out of town.”
Reading the piece of paper Jose gave to me, “You know the reason why I called. I don’t have enough time to explain irrelevant things.”
“Discrete as always are we.”
“What’s the status over there? Are your field agents working properly?”
“Yes they are. As a matter of fact, we apprehended the ignorant fool causing the trouble.”
An acclaimed victory by Mr. Galvez, though it doesn’t make any thought on the happenings here in Spain.
“Who is it then?”
“It’s one of the names on the last will.”
“James Calvin?! Are you serious about that?” For a moment, it’s not acceptable that Mr. Calvin is the mastermind of Mr. Yun’s death. His encounter earlier could be a foul play but, the wounds inflicted were severe enough to make you faint for a normal person. He wouldn’t be that stupid to test his pain tolerance just to get everyone’s sympathy on his condition. I wonder what the reason behind this claim of his.
“We have evidence the way you want it. His DNA matched a certain portion of Yun’s clothes during the crime scene, along with the murder weapon containing his finger prints.”
“So the murder weapon is a sword, am I correct?”
“Nope, based on what we gathered it’s more like a long mechanical buzz-saw.”
“Buzz-saw?” Quite intriguing that your men managed to find a buzz-saw with Calvin’s fingerprints. Knowing the weight of such things, it’s far from impossible to use that to s***h someone retaining body stiffness before falling on the floor. These guys are leaving tracks to point anyone with evidence.
“Are you sure that’s the murder weapon?”
“Yes, we are. We tried it on ballistics gel just to know its strength capacity. Lucky for us, we had good results with the damage done so far. However, the accuracy of someone using it could be below consideration.”
“In what way?”
“Calvin’s physique is a little above average. If he was to carry such a thing buzzing around, Yun would be able to know his presence. Thus, he could’ve done something to defend himself. I bet you’ve noticed a few swords hanging on his walls, he is also a swordsman for a man in his fifties, there’s no way Calvin could’ve fought that.”
“If you know that well, why did you insist on capturing him?”
“Oh no, we didn’t capture him with a warrant. He turned himself in saying he is the one responsible for that.”
“You guys are out of your heads!” I shouted on the other side of the line.
“Hey! Take it easy will you. He’s just under police custody; the trial starts in 5 days so don’t get too pushed over the yard. We’ve been preventing any form of misinterpreted actions from the police too. However, these lawmen are starting to get on my nerves!”
“That’s a fine speech coming from the chief himself.” From the other side, I know that he could feel my sarcasm.
“Enough with your games Thomas, It’s time for you to go back and write yourself a report.”
“Oh I’m not done yet. I still have an unfinished business to settle with someone in this place.” After all of the trouble that I’ve been, I won’t omit myself to any errors and orders that can disrupt my focus away from this case. Mr. Galvez has been too brought up with the capture of the alleged murderer.
“If that’s the case then I’ll be marking your absence as a form of vacation.”
“There’s no need for you to do that. I’m working and that’s it, even if I make procedures outside of the country, it’s still related to the case.”
“Do what you want as long as it is within your purpose. You yourself haven’t got a single day off ever since so consider this as my gift to you.” He replied, laughing on the other line afterward. Though I have a feeling that he has something planned for Calvin’s trial. I’ll have to trust their judgments from now on.
“If you got nothing more to add I’ll be getting some sleep now.”
