Alpha Phoenix
I never wanted to be the Alpha of the Blood Moon pack. It was always supposed to be my brother, Ansel. Ansel was my older brother. He was stronger and wiser. I always wanted to explore outside our pack. I felt that my mate was not of Blood Moon. My father, Desmond disapproved of this as he thought I would find her here. Ansel was a warrior in the pack while my father was Alpha. He was out chasing a rogue one night when he was attacked blindly. He was heavily wounded and didn’t make it. Which in turn made me the Alpha’s next heir and when I turned 18, I became the newest Alpha. Now, at 19 I was trying my best to mourn my brother and tend to my duties. I was troubled and riddled with sadness. My Beta and best friend, Fenrik was taking on more than he should for me. How was I supposed to do this without my mate, my Luna? I wanted more than ever to leave this place and find her. But, with me being the new Alpha, I had lots of things to address and to learn. I wasn’t prepared the way that Ansel had been. I was having to learn the hard way. Learning the regulations, training, and everything that comes with the life of the Alpha. Today was the day that I was to meet with the Alpha of the Blood Moon pack of the Northern region. Our pack had been split into two regions as we were the largest of the packs. Alpha Ronan and his Luna would be coming here to discuss some new regulations concerning rogue wolves. I didn’t want to attend such a meeting, but it was something that had to be done. I needed to train with Fenrik before the meeting this afternoon. I showered and went down to breakfast. Smells of coffee and food was in the air. The cooks had prepared a lovely spread of waffles, eggs, and bacon. I wasn’t that hungry so, I just had a large cup of coffee and some eggs. My parents were sitting at the far end of the table talking in hushed tones. I know they were discussing the meeting this afternoon and how I would address it. They were always whispering about me and how I needed to be more Alpha-like. I rolled my eyes towards them and went out to the courtyard. Fenrik was already waiting for me there. Every training session started off with a run for a warm up. This was my favorite as I loved the feeling of being free in my wolf form. My wolf was a rare breed. He was big, muscular, and red. Red wolves weren’t heard of much. Fenrik’s wolf was smaller and of dark color. We shifted and headed towards the creek in the woods. We ran for miles before heading back. Training consisted of fighting styles in both human and wolf forms. Once back, Fenrik caught me by the leg from behind. I swiftly turned and grab him by the scruff of his neck and tossed him aside. I don’t know exactly how Ansel was attacked, but I stayed on guard at all times in both forms. I didn’t want what happened to him to also happen to me. Fenrik got back up and growled. I lunged towards him, he leapt over me in one swift jump. I turned towards him and bit his tail as he landed. Over mind link he asked, “What the hell was that?” I just shrugged and shifted back to human form. As I dressed I wondered if Alpha Ronan would approve of the progress I had made this past year. Fenrik snapped me out of my thoughts with a slap on the back. He was always catching me disappearing into my own head. I tied my shoes and picked up a training sword. I swung it towards him. He dodged it and whacked my leg. I was in my own little world and wasn’t really in the mood for training anymore. I dropped the sword that I had been holding and headed back inside. By now, the cooks should be preparing a lavish lunch for the meeting. I snuck into the kitchen for a snack before going back to the Alpha floor. I decided to run a hot bath and let my mind wander. What would my Luna be like? Would she be small and petite? Would she be a powerful she-wolf? I imagined a small, but powerful Luna with beautiful hair swirling down her back. My wolf whined at the thought of what her wolf might be like. I longed for that day and he did too. I ended my bath and got dressed for the meeting. I put on some khaki slacks and a nice light colored shirt that complimented my blue eyes then headed to my office to wait on the arrival of the visiting Alpha and Luna.
