FORTY-FOUR The rest of the day felt like an anticlimax, after all the work she'd put in. Not even a peep out of the assassin – though Trevor and Dennis kept a careful eye on the girl the whole day. When someone's father stood up to make a speech, Xan took the opportunity to do one final check on her staff. All the food had been served, so the only duties that remained were clearing away the dessert dishes and serving drinks to guests until the wedding reception ended.
