Let the Exam Begin

One long carriage ride later, we of Class F had arrived in Grandule Woods, where our base was to be. Well... Where our base was supposed to be. "This is just a meadow!" Leroy exclaimed. As he said, rather than a fort of any sort, much less a shack, we all stood in the middle of a meadow, with five flags set in the dead center, each with the letter 'f' written in lowercase cursive. "Somehow, I'm actually not surprised we were given such an unprotected area," Lilith stated.  "Same here," Kyle agreed. "There is nothing here to be called a line of defense. Even the trees are far from the flags." "Well, it's not like things can be helped at this point. Besides, we already figured our situation would be like this, didn't we?" I reminded. The others went silent when I pointed that out, knowing quite well how true that was. Back when we were riding on the carriage, we talked about the various possibilities that will occur in the exam, aside from getting targeted by all the students within our grades, that is. Having a base that was not much of a base at all was one of the possibilities we predicted would occur, and with it a countermeasure. "So are we sticking to the original plan?" Felix asked. "Unless if someone objects to it," I answered. "All in favor for our original plan?" "Aye!" they all replied in unison. "Okay. Then as soon as soon as they announce the start, we're putting the plan into action." ****** Minutes later, fireworks were set off from a distance, signalizing the start of the mock exam. "It's begun... Leroy, Kyle," I called.  No further words were needed, as the fiery commoner and half crossbreed both nodded.  Kyle first had a light blue magic circle appear right under him. He cupped his hands together, causing a sphere of cold, blowing air to form. He closed his hands around the sphere, causing it to shrink down ever so slowly until... "Icy Wind!" He brought his hands up and opened them, causing cold air to be released throughout the area, cooling the air around us. Leroy followed up with a red magic circle appearing on the palm of his hand, summoning a fireball from it. He juggled the ball between his hands, and even contact juggled it all over his body, causing it to glow brighter in a nice hot red color, prompting the rest of us to duck for cover. "Heat Wave!" The fireball in his hand bursted in red air, warming the air in the area, and causing a heavy fog to be formed in the meadow, thus concealing our surroundings. "Now! Move it!" I shouted, dashing toward the woods. I may not be able to see anyone, but I did know and trust that they stick to the plan. These past few days may have been short, but the time we spent training and bonding together were long. It did not take long for me to be out of the fog, and into the woods. As soon as I was in, I sensed out my whole surroundings for anything that screams 'magic'. I sensed a couple nearby, but I grew familiar with those signatures, for they were none other than my classmates, who were getting down to business, as I was. I increased the range of my magic sense, as far as I could get without my phobia acting up. It did not take long for me to catch some magic signatures up ahead of me- five, to be exact- coming my way. The moment I sensed them, I could not help but smirk. All those glares, sneers, snickers... Every action that showed how much we had been underestimated by our very peers... I simply could not wait to wipe it all away, and instill fear onto them. I did not just spend these past few days simply supervising the others' training, after all.  Memorizing where each signature were, I canceled my magic sense and summoned a magic circle on each of the sole of my feet. "Jet Stream!" Water shot out from the magic circles, shooting my toward the group before me. Practically as soon as I activated the spell, I met the sneaking group, and caught one in an unintended lariat, one that helped me stop the spell and come to a stop, as I turned to the rest of the rivaling class/teams, and saw the one I lariated was completely knocked out. "Hey there. Looking for me?" I asked in a taunt. "Class F's ace!" a female gasped. "Well, aren't we lucky. You will know your place, commoner!" a male exclaimed. I playfully placed a finger on my chin in thought. "Hmm... Will I now? As far as I can see, my place has to be above you people, seeing as not only was I ranked fifth on our grade's rankings, but one of you got knocked out quite easily from a 'Failure's' attack. Which makes me wonder, if I am nothing but a failure, what does that make the rest of you?" Of course, as one would expect, none of them were quite pleased with my taunting and fell for it. "Get her!" At that one call, the rest of the students all summoned their magic circles, all quite big that clearly stated they were going to fire some strong magic. Of course, I was not going to let them do as they please so easily, and prepared a Water Bullet spell. Well... Not exactly a 'bullet'. Whether it was upon seeing such a small magic circle on the tip of my finger or because of how I was holding my hand as I was starting to cast this spell, as to be expected from arrogant nobles, they all had such overconfident smirks on their faces. "Hah! You think such a small spell could-" "Water Gatling Shot!" Like a gatling g*n or an assault rifle, I shot a number of swift Water Bullets straight at her face. Not only did the attack stop her from casting her spell, she also got knocked down and out from the assault. Before anyone even had the time to think over what just occurred, I briefly paused my spell and pointed my fingers- my 'g*n'- at the next mage, having that person meet the same fate. Then to the next, and the next, and the next. Eventually, all five mages were taken down by my spell, with one of them barely conscious. "H-... How...?" he breathed out, as I approached. "You're just a failure!" "On the contrary, I'm a commoner. That doesn't make us any different from the rest of you," I corrected, knocking him out with a Water Bullet between the eyes. "Well, you guys are disqualified. Now then... I believe you came from that direction, which should mean the rest of your class is over there as well." At my deduction, I rushed to where these people came from with a Jet Stream, where the rest of their class most likely were to be- their base was to be.
