Exam First Impression *Professors*

1810 Words
After the professors had brought their students to their carriage, they made their way to the headmaster’s office. The purpose? To oversee the mock exam. Security cameras were placed all over Grandule Woods. Some on the perimeters of each class base, some hidden elsewhere in the woods. This was so the test would be clearly and fairly evaluated amongst each class, as well as allow the professors to take immediate action upon the first sign of danger outside the exam, such as a monster attack or invasion from another kingdom.  Though the testing site was protected by a magic barrier that prevents monsters from entering, it was only effective against the fairly weak ones. However, even these weak monsters were strong; it would usually take a handful of first-years to take one down. There were times when an abnormally strong monster would make its way into the testing site and cause heaps of trouble, one that will prove too much for students. Likewise, though relationship between all kingdoms are at peace since the war against the demons all those years ago, and though things are said to be peaceful within the kingdoms, like the supposed equality between human and crossbreed, things are not as they seen in terms of peace. Often times, there were bandit attacks occurring in all kingdoms, nobles twisted and corrupted enough to think little of other lives within the kingdom, even high-ranking individuals from other kingdoms thinking far too highly of themselves or their home land and would do anything to prove their ‘superiority’, even if it meant invading other kingdoms or make false reasons to start a war. While all the homeroom professors took a look at a screen displaying their students with pride, one was different from the rest. "Well, would you just look at where Class F is at now," a professor said, he who was none other than Hazelaye. "All out in the open, just sitting ducks with no means to defend themselves. How sad, very sad, indeed. As one would expect from commoners, as well as low-ranking nobles with clearly no sign of a good future ahead of them." His calls made the other teachers glance at him and Terranium. Some were unamused by his taunts, while others felt the same way he did about the female professor's class. Terranium, on the other hand, ignored his insults. Instead, she only stared at her class on the screen. Specifically one certain high-ranking commoner. After their conversation the other day, Terranium could not help but think about that girl and her claim, and went to take a little sneak peek of their training.  Not many people knew this, but a few years back, there was actually one very promising student in Terranium’s class, who was also a commoner. The girl was constantly thinking positive, even throughout the bullying she had experienced from nobles. Heck, the commoner even thought she could at least be friends with everyone in her class, an effort that was all for naught, especially from the nobles and commoners. Despite all that, the girl still did her best to get along with everyone. Levi kind of reminded Terranium of that girl in that sense. So much so, she feared if the girl will be exactly like that student. Back then, Terranium actually cared about her students, especially the commoners, and did everything she could to ensure their stay in the academy, as well as even protect them from the harassment from the other students. So many, especially commoners, gave up not even halfway throughout the year, despite her efforts. But that one commoner? She was the only one who came close to graduating with her fellow nobles. As her homeroom professor, Terranium was really proud of her. Until… a tragic event happened… one she did not want to experience ever again. And so, after that little meeting, Terranium decided to take a little peek at her class's training. She may have declared she would not be teaching them, but she could at least oversee how they were training themselves. A long time of searching later, she finally found the group right at the commoner's dorm. Well... what should've been the dorm, at least. Rather than a worn down building, she was baffled to see some big, sturdy trees in the middle of the meadow, each with what seemed to be a wooden house set on them. More surprising to her was seeing all her students really taking part in training, with Levi and Mindy leading them. Not a noble, but a commoner, and a monster. Not only that, but the pair's instructions, unusual as they were, were also quite effective for each person, especially Levi's teachings. If Terranium did not know any better, Levi seemed to have much knowledge on how their magic really works than the user themselves. This was especially true when she told two of the crossbreeds her thoughts of the secret behind their own magic. "Well, it seems all the classes have been settled," the headmaster spoke, bringing all attention to him. "Now is a good time to start the exam." Just as soon as he said that, fireworks were heard on the screens, and each class had about half their students breaking off from the base, with most of them heading towards the same direction. "Ah, of course Class F will be the first target. Gotta go easy, after all," Hazelaye spoke aloud. As he said, majority of the students that broke off from their class headed straight towards Class F. Since they were the only ones out in the open and defenseless, it only made sense to them to pick off the weaker target. At least... they assumed Class F was defenseless and weak. What the teachers did not expect were two students of Class F using their magics, and somehow managed to create a heavy fog, big enough to cover the meadow, and thick enough to conceal everything within it. "Did they create a fog?!" one professor gasped. "What sort of magic was that?!" another professor questioned. "Some kind of Weather Magic? But is that even possible?" questioned another professor, for there was no such magic that could change the weather, especially not in one area. Terranium was not as surprised as them. After all, she saw how her students had been training the past few days. According to Levi, it was possible to create fog by rapidly cooling down the warm air in a specific area. By heating up the air with Leroy's Fire Magic, it only made sense that a thick fog would be formed when Kyle cooled the air down around them with his Ice Magic. From another camera, the professors saw several figures exiting out the fog, and heading straight into the woods. "Hah! They may have cover now, but did they really think a few students from their class is any match against the elites?" Hazelaye questioned. Like the majority of his peers, he was also baffled by the creation of the mist, until he saw a few students rushing out their only means of defense. "Not only that, but they're scattered! I suppose it only makes sense. After all, the other students may not be able to see what goes on in the fog, but neither can-" He was cut off when he saw something occurring in the center of the fog. Not just him, but the other professors as well, as they noticed the center part of the fog clearing up somewhat. Though the mist did not dissipate away, it was thin enough to make out some figures, as well as their flags' silhouettes. The sight of it made Hazelaye laugh. "Are they stupid or something?! They may have solved their visual problem, but now they made it easier for the others to find them! So long as they look from above and sense out their magic signatures! What utter fools!" The other professors also snickered at the sight, but two individuals did not. Terranium found their action to be odd. Why clear up the small area around you for a better visual, when doing so would give away your location to the enemy? She may not have been around them these few days, but she observed them enough to know they were far from stupid. Surely, they had something planned. The headmaster silently observed Class F's students. Ever since the results from the entrance exam, he had been interested in one student from that class, she who was nothing like her peers, and he was not only referring to the commoners. There was just something about her, something special, but he could not put his tongue on what that was. This was especially true when he met her before orientation, and again with the Feral Crossbreed incident. Speaking of the girl, she had just met up with a group of students from Class C, and easily knocked them all out, much to the surprise of the professors.  "That commoner defeated my students?!" the headroom professor of the class gasped in shock. Another professor looked at a different screen, and was just as surprised with the outcome. "Hey! Those crossbreeds took out some of my students, too!" he exclaimed, witnessing Taurus and Sheera also knocking the students out with ease. "Tell me I did not see my students get beaten by a commoner!" exclaimed another, who saw their students get taken out by Leroy and Kyle.  "Even my class?!" gasped another, whose students were beaten by Tem and Dylan. No professors could believe what they were seeing. Class F, supposedly filled with weaklings, failures, and/or troublemakers, were defeating their proud students with ease? There was no way that was possible! And yet... what were they watching...? Terranium was just as surprised by this. She had watched her class train hard for this day, but she did not think they were this strong against the other classes. Granted, it was only a portion from each class, but still. "S-So what if they are stronger than they appear? They are still nothing against the elites!" Hazelaye claimed, referring to his class at that last part. Although... despite his claim, he also was feeling a bit frightened by what he had seen. The headmaster did not show it, but he was amused with what he saw. Surely, no one expected what they had witnessed. All his time being head of the academy, feeling regretful for not being able to do much for students of lower ranks, especially those of Class F, not even he thought he would ever see the day when Class F strikes back against all the sneers and jeers. 'Indeed... It seems this generation is far different from the rest,' he thought. That said, he secretly looks forward to what comes next.
